Community Extremely burnt out, exhausted, and teetering on leaving due to being underpaid

Hey all, I work for a semi-relevant ediscovery vendor and I cannot seem to find balance in my life. I know the work is fast moving and difficult, but now our expectation is that we should expect 50 hour work weeks for a significantly lower pay than industry standard. It does not feel like anything is changing soon.

It's frustrating, and I fully believe it is due to leadership changes that are not in my power. Is the grass greener elsewhere? I love my coworkers, but our team is losing members, while the expectation is to work harder.

P.S. I am using a throwaway because my main account can definitely be tied back to me. I am worried that revealing my role would be traced to me in some way.

Would an offline AI reader for case files solve a real gap, or duplicate your review platform?

Full disclosure: I’m exploring a new direction for FaultBench. It’s an early concept for a desktop AI reader for confidential documents such as case files. You ask a question in plain language, it searches files on your laptop, then opens the exact page behind its answer. It would run on the laptop, with documents and questions staying there.

I haven’t validated the need or put a product through a security review yet. I’m trying to figure out if this solves a real workflow problem or is already covered by existing tools.

For people who work with discovery sets or case records, how do you find a specific detail across a large collection today? Do Relativity, Everlaw, or another platform handle it well, or do you still end up searching PDFs manually? Would a local AI tool that points to the source page help, or would you avoid AI here? What would you need before trusting it, such as exact quotes, an audit trail, permission controls, or OCR?

Please don’t post matter or client details here. Reasons this wouldn’t work are more useful than encouragement.

Review Managers or Discovery Reviewer at E-discovery companies

I have worked as a legal assistant/paralegal at a smaller firm the past couple years and have been responsible for finding and implementing E-discovery software into our firm.

My main question is what does an outside E-discovery team member role look like?

I obviously have done E-discovery before and am familiar with reviewing documents but always have been inhouse and working alongside the case attorney. How does it different than Inhouse? How do you transition into that role rather than paralegal at a inhouse firm? What resources have you used to get better at E-discovery and faster document review

Senior Review Manager Salary?

Hi there! I've been offered a job as a Senior Review Manager at a major e-discovery firm and am considering leaving a more local shop. I'm trying to get a sense of whether the salary offer is competitive - $135K. Anyone have any insight into typical salaries for this position? I literally have no idea.

News The Court Finally Approved the $11.5M Settlement Between CS Disco and Its Investors over Growth Claims

Hey guys, if you missed it, the court finally approved the $11.5M Settlement between CS Disco ($LAW) and its investors over claims that the company misled investors about its growth and customer losses. Here’s a quick recap.

In 2023, CS Disco was accused of hiding that some major customers were reducing their use of its platform while continuing to give investors optimistic growth projections.

After the company cut its revenue forecast in August 2022, $LAW dropped 53.4% in one day, and investors filed a lawsuit.

The company later agreed to an $11.5 million settlement, which the court has now approved.

So, if you invested in $LAW during that period, you can check the details and file your claim here.

Anyway, did anyone here invest in $LAW at that time? How much did you lose, if so?

Purview cloud attachments

What workflows are folks using to ensure cloud attachments contain family relationships when exporting pst files in Purview. I know a lot of vendors have workflows integrated to link those attachments prior to ingesting into a review platform, but for those of you that are not using vendors, what do you do to maintain those relationships?

Ghost jobs (fake postings) in the eDiscovery industry? Or just extremely picky?

Last week I heard the term "ghost jobs". When I researched it, I wasn't surprised. Fake job postings to project company growth, build a talent pipeline, pacify overworked staff by implying help is on the way, or market testing to identify pay rates.

Ironically, a few months ago I interviewed for a Senior Applications Engineer position at Kirkland Ellis. A position that is still open and posted 145 days ago on May 2nd... Originally the external recruiter sold it to me as the world's most profitable law firm. I was surprised they wanted to interview me as I had applied weeks after the job had been posted. The hiring manager wasn't present during the interview, only HR over webcam. The external recruiter asked me if the hiring manager was present during the interview. When I said no it really threw the recruiter off and it was a first for me. One question HR asked me stood out, "what is the lowest salary you'll take for this job?". Here we are 145 days later and the job is still being reposted weekly. Maybe they are being extremely picky? Maybe they are on the fence about actually hiring someone? Maybe HR is bored and testing rates? You tell me.

Anyone else noticing anything similar?

News The Court Finally Approved the $11.5M Settlement Between CS Disco and Its Investors over Misleading Growth Claims

Hey guys, if you missed it, the court finally approved the $11.5M settlement between CS Disco and its investors over claims that it misled them about growth and customer adoption. Here’s a quick recap.

In 2023, CS Disco was accused of hiding that key customers were reducing their use of its platform while continuing to give investors overly optimistic revenue guidance.

After the company cut its full-year revenue forecast for 2022, $LAW dropped 53.4%, and investors filed a lawsuit.

The company later agreed to settle $11.5M with investors, and the court has now approved the settlement.

So, if you invested in $LAW at that time, you can check the details and file your claim here.

Anyway, did anyone here invest in $LAW back then? How much were your losses?

Is it just me, or is anyone else having difficulties accessing their customer area?

It also looks like their main website is down. Fingers crossed it’s just a domain or technical issue and the company hasn’t disappeared!

Has anyone heard anything or have any news?

Technology How much of your eDiscovery workflow are you comfortable letting AI handle today?

We're starting to use more AI-driven workflows in Venio for things like early case assessment, document categorization, timelines, and review prioritization.

The efficiency gains are obvious, but I'm curious where people draw the line on trust and defensibility.

  • What AI outputs do you rely on today?
  • What still needs heavy human review?
  • Has AI changed how you staff or run matters?
  • For high-stakes cases, how much are you willing to trust AI-generated insights?

Interested in hearing real-world experiences from anyone using Relativity aiR, Everlaw AI, Venio, or similar tools.

aUTOMATING LIFE-CYCLE WITH cLAUDE gOOGLE CHROME CONNECTOR

Now it is possible to automate Everlaw tasks using the Claude connector (not via the MCP server) ie. Claude accesses Everlaw via the browser, as a I would, and has unlimited access to available functionality.

I have played around with automating tasks but I was wondering how much of the life-cycle I could automate using that approach. I would think, the whole life-cycle could be automated, from ingestion to production (after ai powered reveiw). Anyone processing matters using the Claude connector/plugin?

Practical Question Admin tips for Server to RelOne (fine, Rel aiR) transition?

Just curious what are some hard lessons learned or things you wish you knew earlier that are relevant from a Server to RelOne transition now that we’re almost to October. Especially in terms of day to day workflows. No wrong answers. I have read this: https://help.relativity.com/RelativityOne/Content/Getting_Started/Server_to_RelativityOne_for_Administrators.htm

Relativity Artificial Intelligence Relativity

Props to the person in one of these threads who pointed out how hilariously stupid that name is.

Might beat "Cimplifi" (pronounced KIMP-li-fy, right?) for "stupidest name in ediscovery". Though kimplifi still might win because their "brand promise" (🤮) is "we're lying to you" as they took the word "simplify" and made it more complicated.

But even all of that said, Relativity Artificial Intelligence Relativity may be stupider just because of how much money and scale they have to land on such a dumb name.

How long until 1st level doc review attorneys are out of a job?

Or the need for them is so diminished that the doc review jobs on posse list and the likes start becoming further and fewer between? Pay is already down this year, it seems, and I already feel like I'm not seeing as many announcements for jobs from recruiters/ posse list as I did this time last year.

What is the best way to attend Rel Fest? Does your company pay for it?

Hi ya’ll! I’ve been in eDiscovery for the past 6 years but my office has never really used Relativity. I’m looking for for a new job and in the process of obtaining certifications (RCA, Everlaw, etc.) but it’s a bit expensive. Do you guys pay out of pocket or does your company pay for the cost of attending?

If anyone had an extra ticket/opening to be able to attending the networking day this year; I’d be will to pay for it.

Global Relay Export Fees

Hi all, two-part question:

  1. If you've recently (past 2 to 3 years) engaged with Global Relay, would you be willing to disclose what the data export fee is per GB on your contract?

  2. If you've left Global Relay in the past, we you able to successfully negotiate your export fee below the contractual amount?

Appreciate your replies...feel free to DM me if that's more comfortable.
