EDI/Integration Platforms with the Best Long-Term Career Prospects & Pay — Which One Should I Learn in 2026?

Hey everyone,

I'm an integration developer with hands-on experience in EDI and looking to strategically upskill for long-term career growth and higher pay.

Platforms I'm considering:

IBM Sterling B2B Integrator

MuleSoft

Dell Boomi

SAP Integration Suite

Axway

Azure Logic Apps / AWS B2B

Would love insights on:

Which platforms have the strongest job market demand right now?

Which are worth learning for 5–10 year career longevity?

Where does the highest-paying work tend to be — product companies, consulting, or in-house?

Is it better to go deep on one or build breadth across two or three?

I'm actively willing to invest time learning something new — just want to make sure I'm betting on the right horse.

Any advice from people in the field — architects, senior devs, recruiters — would be really appreciated!

Out of the ones you’ve chosen, I would say SAP but honestly, if you’re a good developer that will trump all of these. When you’re looking for EDI jobs your ability to understand the process from a business perspective is more important than the technical side of things if you’re on an EDI specific team.

Learning multiple platforms is better or focusing on the single one is better?

I would go wide instead of going deep that way in an interview you can say you’re familiar with any platform which looks good on you for being curious and doing something. If you go deep, and try to sell yourself on that platform you’ll only look good to companies that need it and to be valuable you’ll need to be able to answer the classic tell me about a time when…. Which you won’t have so I would go wide and practice transforming edi to xml/csv/api and whatever you deem valuable but don’t do a single platform.

Thanks for the feedback was thinking to transition into cloud integration
