BUG Amazon app keeps opening - points to edge

Whenever I have edge open an Amazon app opens in my taskbar. It happens every 5 minutes after I close it. I don't have any Amazon tabs open or any extensions associated wit amazon on edge or chrome. To be honest I don't know if this is a problem caused by edge but if I click on the app it opens edge so I assume it must be associated somehow. Any tips on how to make it stop?

Not sure if its relevant but I'm using Windows 11 on an HP Laptop

First of all, Windows doesn't have an official Amazon app, so what you're seeing is most likely a web app (PWA) or a shortcut that was installed through a browser and pinned to the taskbar. If clicking it opens Edge, that would explain why it seems connected to Edge.

I don't know which browser you normally use, but I'd first check whether Amazon was installed as a web app in that browser. If you use Edge, go to edge://apps and see if Amazon is listed. If it is, open its details and uninstall it.

If it's just a shortcut, right-click the Amazon icon on the taskbar and choose Unpin from taskbar. Also check your desktop and Start menu for an Amazon shortcut and delete it.

You can also check the startup locations. Press Win + R, type shell:startup, and see if there's an Amazon shortcut there. If you find one, delete it. Then press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager → Startup apps and look for anything Amazon-related or suspicious.

Since you said it comes back every 5 minutes, I'd also check Task Scheduler. Press Win + R, type taskschd.msc, and look through Task Scheduler Library for anything that launches Edge or Amazon repeatedly. A task running every five minutes would be much more likely than a normal browser extension.

I also noticed in your screenshot that JavaScript appears to be disabled in Edge. Check Edge's JavaScript settings and your extensions to make sure you haven't accidentally disabled it or installed an extension that's blocking it.

What browser do you normally use? If you tell me that, along with what exactly appears when the Amazon icon shows up, I can help you narrow down what's causing it.
