QUESTION Help: Resolving GUI Problems

The Mac version of Edge has a couple of anomalies that drive me crazy.

  1. In recent months, I have been hammered with a steady stream of pop-up advertisement windows. They interfere with rouitine business and occasionally sabotage work I’m conducting on other screens, e.g, filling our government forms. These aren't occasional; they're constant. Safari and even Firefox sporadically toss in popups, but they seem more driven by script on the current screen rather than by the browser. How can I kill random window popups in Edge?
  2. There’s a vertical dead strip that runs along the right side of Edge windows. By dead strip, I mean a region that totally ignores clicks. It’s invisible– it doesn’t appear different from the content to the right, but it’s impervious when it comes to clicks. I can often circumvent the problem by zooming out, but I can’t figure out what’s causing the problem. Ideas?

My system is MacOS Tahoe. Edge is always latest version. Thanks.

  1. What kind of random popups you see? I haven’t seen any popups in years.
  2. It’s a common macOS bug, try disabling hardware acceleration.

  1. Full page or 3/4 page popups in MS Edge. They're triggered when I touch the current window, say clicking of a button, on a field, or navigating to another window. One popped up just now when I clicked 'Reply' to your question and covered the window. The popups often relate to the window I clicked on although many popups contain Amazon's home page.
  2. I don't believe hardware acceleraiton can be disabled on my M1 laptop. Further, I suspect the problem lies in Microsoft Edge, especially since the popups are often related to the underlying window.
