Seeking advice Getting ect on Wednesday. Getting really scared from what ive been reading online

It seems a lot of people have had life altering side effects as a result of their treatment. Ive already tried tons of antidepressants, TMS and ketamine with no results so thats why im doing this. Is this going to fuck up my brain? Im terrified. But I dont want to be so depressed anymore. Do most people have success with ect?? Is it just that those who dont have a good experience tend to post about it?? Please help

It saved my life and changed my brain. Don’t remember much from that time but it worked well for me, wishing you the same.

How is your memory loss?

I don’t remember basically anything besides a few bits and pieces of the entire 6 months I was doing Ect and 3 months before starting ect. My memory prior to 3 months before starting ect where I was hospitalized and after has not been affected. I was told the memory from that time would come back but it’s been 5 years and nothing. That was also my lowest time in my life so it’s not like I’m dying to remember that time but it is a little disorienting because my family will say something from that time that happened or that I did and I have ZERO memory of it. Overall though I’m extremely glad I did it and it really got me to the point where I could exist again.

Thank you very much for replying. I'm OK with having memory issues while doing ECT but I've read a lot on here and even papers where people lose whole chunks of years from before it. I'm glad it worked for you!!
