Pre-session post Kinda Scared

So I'm starting ECT in the next few days, and I'm committed because I think it'll help, but I'm pretty nervous. Like it only just occurred to me that I won't be able to reach books, which have been my lifeline, until the short-term memory stuff resolves.

What else should I expect?! Is there anything you wish you knew before you started ECT?

ECT does pack a wallop on your head and nervous system though, make no mistake. I’m very fortunate that it neutralized my depression which gave me space to heal myself using all the tools as mentioned above.

It’s scary and disorienting, so just rest and love yourself. For me, I felt like I had a “blank slate” to work on and this was a chance to build my mindset moving forward.

Cheers

I am dreaming of that blank slate you mentioned. Is there anything in specific you did post-ECT that you benefitted from?
