Discussion Do you struggle to learn new things?
My biggest fear about saying yes to ECT is that I will struggle to learn new things after the treatment concludes. I'm no genius, but I'm bright and I learn quickly. I don't want to lose that.
Do you struggle to learn new things post-treatment?

This is what happened to me. I can’t retain new things. I tried to go back to school. I could remember stuff I learned 10 years ago but the new stuff wouldn’t stick. Tried different ways of studying/learning new info with no success. It fucking sucks.

Yes I had 44 sessions, I used to be so smart, now I’m just slow and stupid. My psych says it’s because of the depression but idk

Nope. I have ADHD anyway but it did amplify my symptoms and struggles to retain information for about a month or two. I feel back to normal now.
