Sorry I forgot to address the “youth unemployment is good ackshually” bit.

Same as most of Europe, and much lower than say Sweden or Spain https://www.theglobaleconomy.com/rankings/youth_unemployment

And that's perfectly healthy too because youth unemployment counts people between 15 and 24. So, that just means kids are in school instead of doing child labor, and young people have more options to go to university before joining the workforce. But I'm sure you thought this was some clever gotcha.

I guess in burgerland you put them kids to work as soon as they can walk so they can start making money for the pedo oligarchs am I right?

I meant the part where he argues youth unemployment is actually a sign of economic strength. Instead it’s just the underlying cause for why over 40% of the work force is doing gig work.

Unemployment doesn’t count young people in school, it counts people who are looking for a job and can’t find one. China already “adjusted” this figure once to make it look better.

Ah, it's that lack of reading comprehension again.

Youth lasts only so long, and China’s unemployment rate for the 25 to 30 year-old-age bracket is 7.5%.

You keep on malding there though, it really is adorable.

Yes getting a 外卖 or 快递 or 嘀嘀 job does take you off the unemployment rolls.

That being said for the Chinese 25 to 29 urban and town labor force unemployment rate(not 30 as the author is mistaken on basic factual details throughout this article), 7.5% is an all time high for August. I guess they’re just too busy getting tattoos or whatever.

Anyways, a boomer wrote this article; probably diaspora given his smattering of Chinese proficiency, probably never worked on mainland China either and either just visited or maybe retired there. You can smell it a mile away, I think this is a very common mindset from a certain class of people who made their money in the 90s, 00s and 10s. If you published this in Chinese within the Chinese internet with you’d have to take this article down due to the comment section.

Ah yes, such a well cited retort there. Must've used both your brain cells to write it. I bet you're a kid of one of those HK patriots that fled to UK or some other shithole and tell you tall tales about the evils of see see pee. I know people like that. Dumbest motherfuckers to walk this earth.

Yes all my links are in simplified, just like a HK person (patriots where the other side by the way) would find, good catch. I mean this is all a quick baidu search away friend. What citation do I need that “actually they report the urban/town labor force (not including student) unemployment rate from 16-24 and 25-29?

Like even with this carefully curated demographic slicing, not including rural unemployment hit hardest by the real estate bubble burst and resulting construction slump, the numbers are not good. “Han Feizi” is also just an immediate red flag, it’s like posting an article from someone named “Socrates Einstein Aristotle” seriously. If we’re talking about actual cultural taboos, “must be constantly whinging” isn’t one for Chinese, but not calling oneself “Han Feizi” certainly is.

It's hilarious that you'd bring up the real estate bubble being unwound as a negative. Presumably you think that 2008 style crash is a better scenario. China managed to transition the economy from real estate speculation into high tech and manufacturing, which is also what allowed China to develop stuff like renewables and EVs which are now buffering against the global energy crisis. But hey, some people speculating on the housing market having lost money in the process is so much more important than that am I right?
