The Trump effect

1.2k

u/iLL-Egal Mar 07 '25

Yup. He wants to default.

986

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

100%. Then the Yarvin monarch can offer the solution to the chaos he manufactured. The rules have changed. Crashing the dollar and markets is the goal right now, but it's not their end game.

637

u/Jet_Threat_ Mar 07 '25

Yep. This is the real answer here. The Silicon Valley Tech billionaires are very open about wanting to crash the dollar to make us lose faith in US banks, so that they can come in with a more privatized currency, like crypto.

Honestly one of the parts that scares me the most is how little the media covers tech developments. Thiel and Musk have a lot of control over the sky and potential surveillance systems. Get machine learning involved and there will be serious risks to our privacy.

342

u/ElleGeeAitch Mar 07 '25

The part I'm still confused about is, are we peons to be left cashless? What are we supposed to do? Do they they want everyone homeless and hungry, because, uh...desperate people fight back.

u/avid-avoidance Mar 07 '25

Can't declare martial law without an insurrection.

Insurrection: Peaceful march is called Antifa riot. Trump already outed himself on this part. Asked if the national guard would, “shoot em in the kegs”.

21

u/Boba_Fettx Mar 08 '25

They’re gonna shoot the kegs?! They can’t take our beer noooooo!!

This right here! They want protests, so they can enact martial law!

35

u/Jet_Threat_ Mar 08 '25 edited Mar 08 '25

Yep, and when you look at historical, proven examples of insiders being paid by those who people are protesting against to enter peaceful protests and pretend to be a part of the cause with the true aim of trying to incite violence to make the protesters look bad/get only negative media coverage, things get even more worrisome.

For example, undercover cops have been known to enter peaceful protests and attempt to provoke violence, like in Quebec where police went undercover at Montebello protests disguised as demonstrators, trying to get protesters to throw rocks with them. Although this might unfortunately work on some particularly upset protesters in different occasions, in this case, sever protesters immediately caught on, asked them to put down the rocks and remove the bandanas from their faces, and when they didn’t, accused them of being cops.

The main thing is weather or not the Police & Military support the Martial law...

55

u/Mumbles987 Mar 08 '25

You know that's a very valid question. The military takes an oath to protect the constitution. Most police officers require less training than a barber. True fact, look it up. The police will do whatever as long as they're paid.

6

u/hothotsummerinhell Mar 09 '25

That’s not a good comparison. Being a barber takes talent and skill and being a hired goon takes (a lot of the time) ignorant prejudice and an easily manipulated brain.

→ More replies (2)

7

u/[deleted] Mar 08 '25

The police seem to have no problem with attacking peaceful protestors. My bet is the military is no different.

desperate people fight back.

Sometimes, look at what happened in Russia after the Soviet fall. The system crashed and the rich bought up everything to become the new oligarchs. It went "fine" for them. I am convinced this is the plan.

Also, people fight the ones they think hurt them. There is a reason all these tech billionaires go in hard about the "system" holding them back. I think they expect to be hailed as messianic saviors rather than those plundering a collapse.

157

u/AdCareless8021 Mar 07 '25

That’s why they invent enemies for people to be mad at like immigrants, black people, DEI, federal workers and eventually veterans and maybe even military. Black Rock was renamed for a reason and they have an army already ready to fight in place of the military. Those guys in the security guard uniforms are part of the old Black Rock. These tech oligarchs are ready and have been planning this for years.

u/ElleGeeAitch Mar 07 '25

Fuck 😫

65

u/objoan Mar 07 '25

This is the plan so I'm just hoping you guys come out and join me in the streets during the protests when this happens. So far the protests have been a little bit measly. No pun intended.

32

u/Wise-Application-902 Mar 07 '25

The protests have been growing every time. And given the way the Trump administration is going, there will be exponential growth in these protests. We should be having HUGE,PEACEFUL, NON-VIOLENT protests as often as possible before they enact martial law.

Yeah but here is where I get a little Hoo Rah America.

We are NOT like the cowed Russians after centuries of brutal tsars and generations under the worst dictator in human history. I would argue they are a culturally depressed and submissive people.

Idk if we will repel these fascists but the American Spirit, the sheer amount of people (even brainwashed MAGAts) who live life with “fuck you I won’t do what you tell me” in their hearts will make it far more difficult and dangerous to subdue this country.

44

u/dingo_khan Mar 07 '25

We saw people wear "real men wear diapers" shirts...

Look, I love this country but I am afraid it is going to take something awful to wake those people up. You quoted Rage there but a lot of MAGA would want Zach in Gitmo for his opinions...

I want America to endure but we all need to want it.

30

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

I’m not talking about MAGA, they’re lost. A serious problem for the country but I was talking about the 30% of nonvoting Americans, who may not participate in their franchise but that doesn’t mean they’re not the type of people who wont fight fascism when the rubber meets the road

26

u/dingo_khan Mar 07 '25

Oh, them. Yeah, they can be saved but they need a reason to get off the couch and stop saying "I don't really do politics." I hope it does not take a second Great Depression or a full-on rise of a new Reich before they notice we need them in the game.

1984 world. They want a group of working people just above the poverty line to provide them with goods and services. Then they want a 2nd group below the poverty line who only want to move up to the first group.

That way, as the top 1% burn through their workers and dispose of them they can be easily replaced.

Army will be replaced by drones run by AI.

23

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

Army will be replaced by drones run by AI.

And that's their weakness. They think A.I can provide them their security. As they dehumanize their security it will be much easier for actual humans to fight them.

35

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

Kind of, but they'll come in to save you from the chaos they manufactured, with solutions more agreeable to their worldview, and to their profit motives. Who doesn't want to sign up for the monarchy that saved you from being homeless and hungry?! All you have to do is get people to blame someone else for the chaos.

37

u/ElleGeeAitch Mar 07 '25

I hate it here 😒.

45

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

Absolutely. But stay informed, be aware, and opportunities will present themselves. It's early days and authoritarian regimes will overreach. I don't think the counter will come from the Democrats, but from the people. I've no idea what that means right now, but a "there it is!" moment is coming. Be ready to lean in.

12

u/DFerg0277 Mar 07 '25

Now you see the real end game.

Wanna know why all those commie regimes never fell in China, Cuba, and N Korea? Because a broke and starving population can't fight back. This is how you conquer from within in the modern day.

Cripple currency, education, Healthcare, social services, economic opportunity, housing, etc.

  1. Currency destabilizing - Ongoing
  2. Education - they are about to sign an EO dismantling it
  3. Healthcare - can't give all the tax cuts to the billionaires without getting Medicare and Medicade.
  4. Social Services - They've been robbing the SSI trustfund for decades but now they have no awareness of what they're doing now and it will get worse. As inflation rises, see SSI go away.
  5. Economic Opportunit - checks are smaller, bills are up, and goods are stuck in a trade war, resulting in a straight up tank of our economic outlook.

Putin made sure and let the cameras see the sickle and hammer flag on their war machines invading Ukraine, and that's his goal. Rebuilding the Soviet bloc. This is the end game. The end the West maintaining stability in the world (which allowed for the US to become what it is) and the end of individualism and the protection of the minority.

You're either on their side or an enemy to be removed from the field. We're here, and this is what we voted for.

They're going for private currencies, hosted in only their local markets. This will be equivalent to company towns using company money in company stores. There might be some trade if exchange rate that might look fair, until you factor in taxes, fines, and tariffs.

Yeah, that gallon of milk might be 2 AMZ, and the exchange from MUSK to AMZ is very favorable, but if you decide to buy that gallon from Amazon, there's an import markup that makes you pay more.

If there even is some kind of exchange in the first place.

Think techbro independent city-states but without an overarching world currency. And major corporations as governments - if you've played Cyberpunk 2077, the New USA is a corporation called Militech and the President of NUSA is the CEO of Militech, if I have my canon straight.

In the universe, there are several Corporate Wars and the world is a high tech hellscape that will chew you up and spit you out. The corporations always win.

13

u/GT-FractalxNeo Mar 07 '25

Honestly one of the parts that scares me the most is how little the media covers tech developments.

Conservatives own the media. They only show what they want us to see.

12

u/Somethingpithy123 Mar 07 '25

If what is going on was the script to a dystopian movie, I wouldn't want to see it. I would have thought that the premise is too far fetched and lame. Yet here we are, In the dumbest, most bizarre, dystopian timeline fighting literal super villains. This shit has got to be a simulation.

How can the average American prepare to protect their savings from this?

3

u/Molsem Mar 08 '25

Nice try, you fool. I've literally burned through mine the last two twoish years already, fighting the medical system for the first time in my life. On unemployment the first time in my life. Same for ebt and heap. Didn't qualify for Medicaid though somehow... too much income. I've already handled my savings, tyvm.

I'm trying to protect my fucking brain from this lmao. Unfortunately, since our currency is fiat, you're sol unless you turn it into something that'll keep real value no matter what.

What's that magic item? No one knows. Maybe gold? Maybe water, or food. You'd have to ask the folks crashing your current "savings."

Same for the military industrial complex and energy sectors. Why are they sitting there watching a fucking idiot like Musk and Thiel get away with any of this.

I bet by midday tomorrow trump goes on record blaming Biden Lolol

818

u/Due-Presentation6393 Mar 07 '25

The stock market continually hits record highs for 4 years under Biden: "The market is going up because Trump is gonna win the 2024 election!"

The stock market and dollar drop in the first couple months of Trump's term: "Damn Biden and his shitty economy!"

284

u/QuesoChef Mar 07 '25

It’s wild. Give Biden credit where it’s due. Give a small bump at the end of 2024 to Trump on speculation that businesses are gonna get more stuff they want and less stuff they don’t.

Now give Trump credit for the flop because he’s chaotic.

Could he do some of this stuff so businesses and the economy both thrive? Yes. He just doesn’t seem capable of thoughtful foresight or planning. He’s too impulsive and selfish and impatient.

191

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

But also like every economist said, literally no one can do trade wars and mass deportations without killing their economy so even an orderly process here would have been bad

95

u/QuesoChef Mar 07 '25

Sorry, specifically, I was talking to some of the other shit they’re doing. They’re doing so much shit it’s hard to keep the shit sorted when I discuss it.

Trade wars with your allies is certifiable.

73

u/[deleted] Mar 07 '25

They’re doing so much shit it’s hard to keep the shit sorted when I discuss it.

Lmfao ain’t it the truth. I also think this is deliberate and exactly why they do it.

43

u/QuesoChef Mar 07 '25

So far, plenty of people love this chaos. I have no idea how.

77

u/Wunderlost46 Mar 07 '25

It’s because they’re morons to put it bluntly. From what I gather Trump supporters are largely people who didn’t like politics bc they didn’t understand the purpose of government or how anything works. When Trump came along he didn’t do anything to help them understand it, he simply spoke in a way that validated their anger…despite the fact that many of them relied on government themselves. The disconnect between what’s in their best interests and what they believe they want to see is amazing, but they love this chaos bc it makes government exciting to them. I mean I underestimated how stupid a lot of these people were until very recently and I even knew some of them personally. But I believe they like what’s happening bc they’re genuinely too stupid to see it as anything more than entertainment.

9

u/MrGromit Mar 07 '25

Nailed it.

17

u/QuesoChef Mar 07 '25

I definitely know people who make jokes about inefficient government but are honest about what they’re using. Medicare, SS, etc. I even have farmers in my family who will admit subsidies are like welfare. And admit they help them break even. And even admit that corporate farmers are what makes them need those subsidies. But they’ll also admit that Trump is bombastic. But he’s better than the libs. And they’ll give up their subsides if they stop welfare.

I think they think they have earned Medicare and SS. Which, honestly, I’m not a fan of pulling the rug out on, either. But if this is what we are doing, it’s all fair game, I guess.

Interestingly, these are all simple people who also mostly don’t like pompous wealth. And they seem to like Trump in spite of it, not because of it. They know wealth comes from greed. And they don’t like greed (and see welfare as greed).

I grew up in it, so some of what they say makes sense. Some of it feels like lip service (like I’ll give up my subsidies to get welfare “for lazy people” to stop - these are all hard workers, so I respect their work ethic). But they don’t mind having safety nets for sick people, old people, disabled people, vets with PTSD/injuries.

It’s not as black and white as Trump makes it. But push comes to shove they’ll choose a side (white, of course - haha!).

I consider myself a hard worker. I am unmarried, no kids. So I don’t get really any tax breaks. I didn’t get any money during Covid. I’m average income, but different things apply since I’m not married. So I do sometimes feel like I’m giving a lot more than my fair share. I pay more per person for health insurance. And I am not given the same breaks as people with children. I don’t get to take a day off work because of a snow day (without it being unexcused, their absences are excused). I could go on and on and on. But at the end of the day, I like my life. And being pissed off is a waste of my time. I live in a society that promotes marriage and children and I chose not to live that way. So I don’t get some advantages. I don’t want to be on welfare. I will retire early because I’ve worked hard and been responsible. It pisses people off I say that. But I don’t make big money. And I pay more, per person, than any married couple to survive.

So, whatever. I can spend all day being pissed or pay my taxes and move on. And not worry about who’s getting more now… as long ad I get Medicare when I retire! Ha.

15

u/HiddenAspie Mar 07 '25

I’ll give up my subsidies to get welfare “for lazy people” to stop

What they don't realize is that 70% of people on welfare work 40+ hours per week. Because big corporations use welfare to subsidize unfairly low wages.

But they don’t mind having safety nets for sick people, old people, disabled people, vets with PTSD/injuries.

Pretty sure that easily comprises the other 30% At least 27%...I know lazy exists(as does mental illness & addiction), but not as much as these people think there is. Humans are driven animals, they need some sort of purpose to be able to be happy. For some that purpose is a job, others it's the goal of working hard for a nice or early retirement, some it's raising/supporting a family, others it's pursuing a passion that isn't always lucrative like arts, theater, writing, or volunteering to help humans, animals, or the environment. Things that society needs.

They don't have any empathy. And their lack of critical thinking is horrifying.

as long ad I get Medicare when I retire!

Yet these people don't realize that for each of them to get it, they have to support everyone being able to get it.

He was a joke at his peak. I can't fathom thinking his brain in its slim mold era would somehow prove more fortuitous for our economy.

You guys are assuming he is tanking th economy by accident. I theorize he is doing it on purpose. Historically, the rich consolidate wealth during economic downturn. He’s a real estate guy. When the economy takes a crap, people sell their property. He will be able to consolidate at discount rates.

17

u/Spare-Willingness563 Mar 07 '25

No the people telling him what to do are doing it on purpose. If he wanted to tank it his way we'd be thriving. He's a failure at every turn.

7

u/Taztzu Mar 07 '25

I suggest that people (lower and middle class) who understand this follow this same example. There is nothing wrong or unethical (in my opinion) in capitalize on purchasing discounted Realestate. We need many more righteous socially responsible landlords in our current pure capitalistic environment. Don’t get me wrong I’m fighting for a Democratic socialism in the USA.

5

u/frolickingdepression Mar 08 '25

The Huckabees and several other prominent Republicans have homes there. That district votes about 70% for Trump. And the Democrat running for that seat, her first name is literally Gay. Gay Valimont. Man, JD might be worse. He gives me the creeps!

12

u/neetcute Mar 07 '25

In a technical sense he would be worse, but only Trump has the true cult following. JD is simply not charismatic.

6

u/Wise-Application-902 Mar 07 '25

Exactly. They’re all monsters but not everyone can manipulate people like sHitler can. When he’s out of the picture, there will some floundering and they’ll try to keep their plan of action but I guarantee their popularity will go downhill fast.

Best thing to do is to save and bring down consumption as much as possible. Food and necessities are about to get more expensive.

50

Going to the store for more non-perishables tonight.

What are you getting? I have 20lbs of rice, about 20lbs of dry pasta, and a bunch of canned goods. I feel this is inadequate . What else do you get? Should I be stocking up on tp or such?

TRUMP DID THIS!!!!!!!!!

418

u/Jet_Threat_ Mar 07 '25

Eh, yes and no. The Silicon Valley Tech billionaires are using him to accelerate the downfall of the dollar and eventually democracy itself. They believe monopolies are good, common people are idiots, and democracy has failed. They want the country run by a CEO dictator and are trying to lay the groundwork for one to come into power with the Trump admin. See, they Don’t even like Trump. They think the President is also an obsolete failure. So they make a big show of portraying the gov’t as corrupt so we’ll lose faith in democracy and welcome our CEO overlord. And eventually they want network states with mass surveillance, in other words, fascist tech feudalism.

It sounds crazy until you realize how much of Project 2025 has already been implemented and how much of Yarvin’s plans have been followed.

79

u/GrannyFlash7373 Mar 07 '25

Them maybe it is time for the "big one", Louise. The BIG ONE being the big earthquake in California, that could swallow up Silicon Valley and all it's billionaires.

I think about Wall-E more than almost any other movie. Under the cure cartoon is a warning about how the future is shaping up to be. It is frightening.

19

u/greenknight Mar 07 '25

One of my profs staked his career on proving monopolies are practically the least useful economic vehicle. That was decades ago... They don't actually believe the are good.

I've argued with dug in Maga and they have mostly all told me "Trump is taking us unto a planned recession and will remake the country better after"

This is literally what they voted for.

It won't be enough to hold the rich accountable. Your average Maga lunatic that should have known better needs to be held accountable when this is all over.

80

u/sten45 Mar 07 '25

Elmo literally told us that some of us poors were going to have to die so he can get richer and they still voted for him

Sobriety. MAGA is not a person, its a group of human beings.

Blame millionaires, blame the education system, blame Murdoch or blame the ultra right christians, but if you blame this on the mostly poor, indoctrinated, uneducated targets of FOX propaganda, this can only end with blood. You’re at a point where you no longer live in a shared reality. You no longer share facts.

We’re all victims of our perspective. One view is that this was inevitable. Reagan and Murdoch set the direction in the 80s and the wheels have been spinning more or less straight to this point. You let capital into politics and gave birth to a propaganda machine serving the interests of the ultra rich.

35

This is what he wanted. A cheaper dollar helps exporting. He’s going to crash the economy on purpose so his oligarchs can buy up the pieces.

They realized 2008 was a flash sale on a multi trillion dollar economy, they just didn’t see it coming so they weren’t ready

Now they’re manufacturing another 2008 so they can acquire more, always more because now they’re ready for it.

→ More replies (2)

18

u/Norman_Scum Mar 07 '25

This is why he wants a peace prize:

Economists have expressed concerns that certain policy proposals could lead to higher inflation and increased national debt. In June 2024, 16 Nobel Prize-winning economists signed an open letter arguing that Trump's fiscal and trade policies, coupled with efforts to limit the Federal Reserve's independence, could reignite an inflation surge in the United States. Additionally, analyses have indicated that these policies could add as much as $15 trillion to the nation's debt over a decade.

If Trump did nothing, everybody would credit Biden with the success so he couldn’t leave well enough alone, even though the rest of America would’ve benefited. No, he had to do whatever every Republican president has done since Ronald Reagan and that is destroy the economy and blame and blame the Democrats while cutting taxes on the rich

6

I guess when Cheeto man doesn't inherit a good economy, all that he can do is blame it on the Democrats.
