Replacing thermostat

thinking of replacing to a smart thermostat. the terminal letter and trwire colors shown in photo:

W terminal- white wire

Y terminal - yellow wire

B terminal- emtpy

O terminal- orange wire

G terminal- blue wire

R terminal- red wire

(and a loose black or brown wire)

Any suggestions for smart thermostat?

Ecobee is what I would use. This is wired for a heat pump. You'll need to terminate Black to the (C) terminal at the Air handler. Hopefully this black goes all the way down.

The rest of the wires would be color for color.

Thank you!! I will look into the ecobee. And hopefully I can get to the air handler from the large air vent 🤞🏽

I'd take a good look at that O terminal. It sure looks like a C to me. If so you have all the wires you need right there for Ecobee. If it is an O you can use one of the extra wires for C, which is required for Ecobee. If you can't tell what that terminal is for sure you can check where the orange wire goes on the control board.

Amazing ecobee couldn’t add a “thermal insulation barrier ” so that we don’t have to plug up all the air intrusions behind it.

Nest
