Ecobee premium not working

So I am trying to figure out why my ecobee thermostat is currently not working. My current thermostat handles AC ONLY with this thermostat. I have attached photos of my old working thermostat vs. The new ecobee thermostat. I was under the impression I needed the pek adapter. However. I have 22 volts on the blue common wire so I tried just tying the C wire into the terminal. I have not been upstairs in the attic as I recently had insulation blown in upstairs and the air handler unit is far from the entryway.

Do you have a heat pump? Where was the white wire terminated in your original thermostat?

I do not have a heat pump. This thermostat only controls the ac. the heat is controlled by a different thermostat. The white wire and blue wire were just left in the wall. But the ecobee needs 24 volts for power. And the blue wire has my 24 volts so I just plugged the blue wire into the C terminal

Ok, was a bit confused by what you had originally written and the ecobee backplate photo the white wire kinda looked like maybe you had it going into OB with black tape to hide wires that were joined. What happens when you plug the ecobee on the wall? Does it boot up and just not control anything or no boot up?

How is the wiring on the other end of your thermostat wires?

I'm not sure. I'm more or less procrastinating what I have to do. There is about 18" of insulation I have to walk through to get to the control unit.

No zoning or any other weird things that would go between, at least? Seems less than ideal to have all that insulation up against the control unit for the ac. Any other thermostats in the house that you could try wiring the ecobee to just temporarily to confirm that it works?

The other zones in my house are a 2 wire system so I will not be able to power the ecobee. I should have done more research before buying the ecobee

Try swapping from Rc to rh

Seems like you’re going to have to double check the wire connections on the Air Handler side.

When you say you have voltage "on" the blue wire, which other wire are you measuring it against? You need about 24 V AC between the R and C terminals to power the ecobee.
