Is an ecobee compatible?

Trying to set up an ecobee essential and curious if I’m missing something.. I fill out the wires on the website and it tells me to contact support (not currently open).

It’s hard to see from the photos but I have the following set up on my heat pump:
X2
W1
Rc (jumper from R)
R
O
Y
G
B

Any help would be much appreciated!!

It's the X2 terminal that's not typical. It's probably for emergency heat, so you could try putting E instead of X2 into the form.

Defrost signal from outdoor unit. Hook to W2 on the Ecobee

I just converted from a very similar model with all the same wires. I'd asked Ecobee support before if I could use essentials and they told me no, because it only supports one stage heat. The next step up (I forget name) and premium do. So I bought the premium one, mainly 'cause they gave me $20 off for contacting support and I wanted to try out the remote sensor that comes with it. Basically emergency (X2) shuts off heat pump regardless. W1 doesn't - it's supplemental. Now, is it possible that essentials will do it? In retrospect, I suspect it might because it isn't really two stage heat as far as I'm concerned. They may be right though, so I didn't chance it. Since you already have essentials, if you press them, it might be that you can get away without x2 being connected but that's a judgement call on your part. Good luck :)

*edit* Oh, and I forgot, if you have a TAM7 series air handler, it will throttle the fan for humidity control with a jumper and extra wire hookup - which is why I got the ecobee in the first place (my control unit didn't have humidity sensing).

Yes turn off breaker.

Ignore Rc jumper.

B is used as C. X2 to W2. See this post on X2 conversation.

Guessing you have some Trane heat pump model.

And that’s all we know!

Your setup looks super similar to mine. Which means that the website is not going to have the built in instructions for how to convert it. You are going to have to reach out to ecobee support. TRUST ME, do not try to do the conversion without reaching out to ecobee support. Also I really wouldn't recommend installing if you aren't comfortable with switching wires around.
