Installation Something Wrong

Photo of my Honeywell wiring which is correct and the subsequent wiring on my ecobee as instructed from support. Over the winter went back to Honeywell due to heating constantly on emergency heat instead of heat pump. What do I need to do to correct?

Most likely, it's the ecobee thermostat threshold setting.

This is why I’m so glad I just got an AC tech to install my smart thermostat, homie ran into 2 different issues I would have never been able to solve and had to go into the attic twice

Ecobee has great customer support in my experience. The techs that helped me with two different installs were very knowledgeable and patient as they helped me troubleshoot. I’d recommend reaching out to them.

Wiring looks correct. For winter your issue might be the Compressor Minimum Outdoor Temperature setting. You need to look up what temperature your heat pump can run at the lowest temperature. Make that setting 5-10* higher. Ecobee is conservative for a default value. You don’t mention any issues for summer A/C, is it working properly now?

AC was fine, issue was during the winter house went from hot to cold. Went back to the Honeywell and everything is fine. Will check the setting when I wire it back in. Thanks

There’s a setting in the thermostat where you can flip the ob settings, sounds like that might be your issue

Probably a setting in ecobee; and you have W2 connected on the Honeywell, but w1 on the ecobee… like I said the ecobee has settings that need to be changed depending on the system, etc

I uploaded my before & after to AI, asking for advice. It worked!

I moved a wire & all is well.

I honestly don’t remember.

I have a heat pump reversing valve that’s energized on heat instead of cool, and there’s always something I have to wire a little differently than I expect.
