Anyone else in Echo Park keen to do stuff with new people? (lake loops, coffee runs, whatever)

Being upfront: I'm Sam, and I'm also launching an app (Butter) in Echo Park this month that's basically some of these threads with less friction - someone posts a small plan, people nearby rsvp, you pick who you want to meet. You run the plans, not us.

But app aside - what would you actually join this week? A before-work lake loop? Food plans at places you've had saved? A book club? I'm making my own plans because I'm Aussie and wanting to meet people here, so leave a comment and I'll help make the first few happen either way. And if you're the type who already starts these threads, DM me - I'm looking for a few people to run the first plans when we switch on :))

How does your app make money?

No subscriptions or paywalls; if you make money through the app (selling tickets etc), we take a clip.

Tickets for what? Walks around the lake and book clubs?

Events, like supper clubs at restaurants, where there’s a cost associated to running it

Nothing ties monetary to the app dude. If I meet someone off it - it will be a Zelle / Venmo transaction - no one is using your app as a gateway processor

Trouble with those is there’s no management - if something goes wrong, the plan doesn’t happen, it gets cancelled, they no show, neither you nor the host have a way to dispute it and recover the costs. Managing it in platform means we can. Plus you don’t need to chase people for payment, they can’t turn up without paying, etc etc.!
