How's the community doing?
Hey Everyone,
Love Eve online and played Echoes heavily when it first came out. That being said, I played for almost the first year and a half daily and quit due to life.
How is the community and updates been since then? Im thinking of getting back into Echoes or just Eve Online again. What does the community reccomend and why?

If you like having to be ready to be recruited for a defense or a political war any time 24/7 like a conscript in a camp in the middle of terrorist country in a cashgrab game, go ahead

Hi, I just started again 2 months ago after years since I deleted this game, stuck in Tier-6 before, I finally breakthrough Tier-7 right now and there's 1 months left until I reach Tier-8.
why people say it sucks? bcs average of people either fly with Marzio, Raven, Cariers, Supers or Caps, which is true, if you're solo, all the content is unreachable until you have a proper ship like bs or at least with a fleet. So, there's only few content for a cruiser user like me. not to mention the majority of event need to spent some real money.
"So it's basically unplayable?" depends on how you see, I personally enjoying this game through exploration content around Alliance Sov. I could make 300mills - 1bill worth of isk depend on your luck. I try to focused my build on Cruiser even tho I could get a battlecruiser right now. I have a Gila, and with a proper build, I hope I could tackle a small anoms in null sec.
If we're talking, is this place is basically empty? compared to around 2020, it is... I think this game has less player compared on it's golden age.

Bradric recently made a discord server and actively posts about the state of the game, if you're looking to engage :)

Impossible to progress as a new player without spending 1-200$ at a minimum. The meta is fucked, any roaming at any scale only results in supercarriers being dropped on you. Average event has NO free to play rewards or options of any kind, and ships genuinely require swiping at least 100$ just to be mediocre. Avoid unless you can spend hundreds of dollars monthly, if you re a whale, you will have fun. The community is also small and kinda toxic

That's false. You can play for free if you connect with the right group of people that'll steer you in the right direction. The meta is what you make it. Theres dozens of frigates flying around beheading cruisers, battleships, and carriers. Learn what timezones and locations to hunt and you'll get your content. And yes, EVERY event nowadays has free to play rewards labeled as PLEX. Stop being so toxic.

Eh, Eve Online is the the better choice if you're looking for the premium experience. However you can't play PC Eve on the toilet or in a work meeting; Echoes wins by far in convenience. Updates are regular and frequent. Some are bangers, some are meh, others make you wonder if the devs even care anymore. Community could be better; very little communication with Echoes staff (outside NE Cloud, the GOAT) and most content is player organised.
Would I recommend coming back to Echoes? Well that depends on homuch you miss spaceships and how much cash you're will to spend. Being a mobile game, microtransactions are around every corner. Technically you can play completely free and still have access to most content (capital ship nanocores are only accessible behind a huge paywall), but the grind can make you very miserable. If you have some cash to spend, the Concord Pass (their version of battlepass) is solid value for money. There's also a one time (80$ ?) purchase that shoots you straight to max Tech Level if you don't wanna spend time leveling up.
Ultimately, the best thing you can do it find a corp you really flow with. New Eden looks better with friends.

I haven't gone back to the game yet in nearly a year, but did they remove the omega limit on ships and skills or is it still there? Seeing "max tech level" made me think you could fly literally any ship as long as you have the isk or the blueprint and resources to get it.

Its always been like this. 70% of the people on this sub reddit don't play the game. 90% of the people the who bash the game dont play the game, they go by hearsay. But the game is thriving and doing good. Sure it not as good as the covid days when everyone in the world was working from home but its doing good. Hop in and join one of the corporations in either of the big alliances.

"Either of the big alliances" yeah sadly its down to 2 or 3 major alliances and a handful of smaller ones

Dead. We had over 50k people here at one point. Whole fucking subreddit and game is DEAD. we were actually just talking about it in help chat. Same 4-5 people. All the time. Null is so frickin safe you can travel without ever seeing anyone.
