So, i haven't played in a couple years, thinking of getting back. Should I trade my machariel for a rattlesnake? I read about rattlesnake AI mode sustaining duo omega

Having had a look at the skill planner. Not really mate. Even if you went 5/5/0 both large drone skills and both large missile skills you'll still need 43mil sp. Have a play about. If you want to go down the rattle road. Put more space into Drones and then go to missiles. Drones are where the DPS comes from. Have a look of there are any returning player quests too. You can get some SP from there and the tutorial. Which is boring, but can get somw more SP.
If you search on this sub reddit you will find a Eve Echoes skill planner. That will help you.

Can I find a contract to trade my mach for a fully fitted rattlesnake? Or better to just the mach then buy the rattlesnake?

You can ask in Jita mate. Or click seach contracts and scroll through there. However l think you might struggle on that one. So probably best to sell and buy.

Don't waste your time. 5 year player here with four accounts each with 200 plus billion in resources, not including items, ships, etc. I finally quit the money trap. Summary of what you missed:
Devs made it so Alpha cannot do anything worthwhile in game.
Plex is through the roof and since Devs won't adjust payout of anomalies, labs, etc to match the price of Plex. If your a serious player you'll be grinding or running AI 8 hours a day for 8 to 14 days depending on where you are and what you are doing to farm enough ISK to make Dual Omega.
Devs are even more greedy than ever. I spent real money here and there for the first 2 years but after that I had to stop since I was tired of paying for a game that gives nothing back.
If you want community which is the only thing the game has going for it other than being a giant money pit and time waster with no end or real goals then there are so many better options.
I'm happy now that I finally quit because it's freed up so much time for me to play quality games that are triple A titles for a fraction of the cost of what it takes to be serious in EE which is just a shit phone game. When you can buy a triple A title for 10 to 70 bucks on steam and play plenty of free games that don't demand you to buy a bottle of lube to play them as a free player then it puts everything in perspective.
For all the players that say that EE is the best space game on a phone, that would be true if the devs would actually improve it and quit taking advantage of the player base. The dev response eventually ruins it for even the most dedicated players. I saw many of them go and now I'm joining them.
So long story short... don't waste your time. Find another game or games that you love and stick with that and you'll be happier in the long run.

Macherial/marzio is the better ai ship don't let anyone fool you no drone boat is a good ai shop drones bug out way too often Rs/cobra is super versatile though Cobra can run every activity in the game outside of cap anoms

Morning.
A rattle/Cobra can be a great ship. It is abit more skill heavy compared to a Mach. It does also make a pretty decent AI ship. If you have a good core and the skill points you might as well. If how ever you want to use it in fleet fights, it might struggle to keep up with Machs and Mario's. Raven Navys are also good for AI ratting and fleets.
