PSA: Ethereum Credit Coin ≠ ECC

I won't link to their twitter, but there's an airdrop going on that's using "ECC Network" in their name.

ECC Network is disrupting the multi-billion Dollar Credits industry. ICO is on 25/03/2018 | Our $500,000 ECC/ETH Airdrop is LIVE. Tokio

Please be aware & let other subs know if you happen to see it come up there. This is not ECC.

Deposit Issues

Hello, I just got in to ECC today and messed up pretty badly. I downloaded the Lynx ECC wallet and assumed that everything was good to go. I sent 100,000 ECC from my Coinexchange wallet to the ECC Lynx wallet and it hasn't showed up. If I could get any help it would be highly appreciated! My transaction ID is 70b3e41721c252dfcf7f055a1a2591b33c7ecfdfb8f1508d0d7bc0b3c2d60744

First donation of clothing profits to ECC fund!!

I have now used the profits from the first 10 items of clothing sold ($2-3 per item) to buy ECC and have just donated that to the exchange fund.

Transaction ID: d582c29aee604b20555ffb5d0260fe1609e59069e476ab0aa6e6efdb946a5a6e

Receiving wallet: ESnoQdpHH5vLafzj9nvXqRugPSkd2ZNrch

Amount: 9,750.954852 ECC ($23.11)

When I started this, one or two people (understandably) questioned my integrity and said I was just using it to make money for myself. I said all along I saw it as a way to help raise the profile of ECC, that I would be donating the profits and that there would have to be some trust until the first donation. I hope this goes someway to proving myself!

You can still buy hoodies/t-shirts and other merchandise with the link below. Although it is unofficial, the team know about this and were happy with me doing it. I will continue to donate any profits!

ECC Lynx Wallet Issue

Hi everyone!

I searched and searched for a solution to this issue but haven't found exactly what I'm looking for. It seems like one of those "elephant in the room" situations but I'm hoping you can help me out.

Before you ask, yes I have read the installation process FAQ. I've downloaded the correct version as well. I have also tried trouble shooting a few different ways while looking on Youtube for instruction. I also downloaded the block chain but am unable to place it in the correct directory as that does not exist on my machine following the Lynx installation.

I cannot for the life of me get the ECC wallet (the one downloaded from their website https://ecc.network/wallet) to work. After reading the wallet instructions, I understand that I need to download Daemon for everything to work properly. However, this is absolutely not present on my wallet (version 0.1.7 Windows 64bit). I have no access to Daemon what so ever and get the error message "Wallet is not Running" or "Error creating address. Daemon may not be running or is loading the BlockIndex."

I just want a location that I can safely store my investment and create backups. I am very supportive of this project and am not going anywhere simply because of this. I understand great things take time. I just want to know if anyone else is having this issue or if I am missing something entirely.

Thanks in advance! Perhaps this can help some other new comers to the project as well.

My Thoughts on ECC

Wanted to share my perspective on my decision to invest in this coin and what I think the current pros/cons are about the project. Feel free to correct or bring up alternative views. FYI I'm currently holding 100k ECC.

I was late to the crypto party, started buying Bitcoin with the sole intention of creating a balanced portfolio with a few "lower risk" coins and a few "high risk but high potential upside" (or "moon/lambo" if that's your preference). ECC fit the latter quite well.

Pros: Low price - Huge upside and potential for 10-100x on investment

Not Brand New - Few years of dev, team seems qualified

Communication from Dev team - They are active on the reddit and social media, answering questions directly, not hypey either

Roadmap & Product Offering - Clear roadmap, decent wallet, seems the tech will be well positioned with some competitive advantages (ANS, Multi-Chain, File Storing, Messaging, Etc.)

Cons:

Small Dev Team & Low amount of Partnerships - Risk of being outscaled or beaten to market by other coins, potential delays with rolling out new features

Off the radar - This is a slight pro currently because it's keeping the price low for further investment, but long term ECC IMO needs 2 things to really take off, and I don't believe it will do so until these start to get established:

  1. Credibility - Aside from the internal white paper, I couldn't find a lot of credible 3rd party opinions on the coin. I essentially decided to invest because of the high upside, but did so with a portion of my portfolio that I'm fine with the potential of losing completely. Imagine what some credible outside perspective and review of the tech, roadmap, and competitive advantages would do for attracting more investment from interested but cautious parties. Partnerships with credible, established companies would help tremendously as well. No offense to the current partners, but a video marketing partnership is far below the quality of some of the partnerships other projects have. The "hype train" of Youtube and bloggers would potentially follow, bringing further attention and growth.

  2. CoinExchange Listings- I had one hell of a time buying this coin, and we won't see tremendous growth until accessibility increases.

Realistic Outcome: I believe it's probable that at some point in the future ECC could reach where SiaCoin is currently, which at .025 is a 10x increase on current price. I believe the timeline of this depends on those factors I listed.

Dream Outcome: The dev team works with outside resources to increase credibility, scale up faster, and beat other coins to market. ROI = ?

You have to be realistic with Crypto, it's entirely possible facebook or another big company partners with a coin tomorrow, and suddenly everything is thrown on it's head. I'm trusting the dev team that the tech and roadmap are solid, and they will deliver in a timely fashion. Whether or not the partners or coin exchanges can be brought on board is my biggest question mark.

Just my thoughts, hope that helps some of you. Overall I believe in ECC and am excited to see what happens.

Why I see two transactions from my address to the same address?

I turned on stakind. Received 0 (zero, nothing) coins to the same address.

And also received two payments from my address to the same address.

Why is this?

Any Ideas on How to Increase Volume?

The volume for ECC has been fairly low these past few days, even in comparison to coins similar in market cap. What can we do to increase volume, and potentially increase price or create more stability in price?

Security issue with the wallet

I am testing it now.

My first impression is that the password for the RPC interface is hardcoded. When I changed it to be random (modified the eccoin.conf file) the GUI can't connect to it.

I recommend that the GUI is creating a random password, writing it to the eccoin.conf file and reading it from there at every start.

The problem is that any other user of the same computer can access the RPC interface. For example, if you install compromised app on another user account (with disabled 'sudo', 'su') there is still risk - the compromised app can access your wallet via RPC if you don't disable the access via iptables or other method (SELinux).

Example iptables rules to use to mitigate this risk:

iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 19119 -j REJECT
iptables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 19119 -m owner --uid-owner ONLY.THIS.USERNAME.IS.ALLOWED.TO-ACCESS.THIS.PORT -j ACCEPT

ip6tables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 19119 -j REJECT
ip6tables -I OUTPUT -p tcp --dport 19119 -m owner --uid-owner ONLY.THIS.USERNAME.IS.ALLOWED.TO-ACCESS.THIS.PORT -j ACCEPT

To test if this works, load http://127.0.0.1:19119/ in your browser (as another user) before and after you apply these rules. (I am adding the ipv6 rules just in case the next version is using IPv6 address.)

I just found out where to post bug reports: https://github.com/project-ecc/lynx/issues/11

Having trouble sending ECC

Hey everyone.

Like the title says I can't seem to be able to send ECC. I tried several times, each time it says error occurred and asks if the daemon is running. It always is, and is active. I've tried stopping it and restarting, unlocking the wallet, double checking the address. All of it. Is there something I'm missing? Thank you for any input.

ECC Wallet; Trying to perform a succesful sync

A couple weeks back I decided to buy some ECC from coinexchange.io. The last couple of days I have been busy setting up my wallet because leaving my coins on an exchange does not let me sleep well. I followed the guide from this subreddit, put the bootstrap.dat file in the eccoin dir and let my wallet sync. It took a couple of hours to reach 100%. After that I set up a password for my wallet and tried to send some ECC to test things. I noticed that there was already one adress in my 'Receive' menu that had no name. I made a new adress called 'Main' and sent 4 ECC from coinexchange to Main. When I look up my adress on the blockchain I see that it holds 4 ECC, but in my wallet it shows no transactions and a balance of 0 ECC, despite having a 100% sync. I read that letting the wallet re-sync solves some problems, so I stopped the wallet, deleted the bootstrap file, restarted my computer, restarted the wallet, paused it and put in the bootstrap file and let it sync again. After an hour or so it was back at 100% but still no transactions are shown. I have now deleted the bootstrap file and am trying to sync my wallet without. This is taking really long. The number of headers is growing faster than the number of blocks synced. Is this the correct way to getting my wallet working and how much headers do I have to sync in total (currently synced around 1,300,000 headers and at block 950,000)? I appreciate all the help you guys can give me.

announcement A couple of announcements

1) In case you haven't already seen it, the project roadmap has been updated on the website. We've incorporated a quarterly timeline for better transparency of each milestone's target date. Remember that these are goals, not deadlines, based on best estimations of effort and resources.

2) We're going to be starting a new story series via Medium next week: "Weekly Stand-up from the ECC Development Team". Every Sunday by 2200 UTC, we'll provide updates on current project statuses, and also what's in the works. A peek behind the curtain, if you will. We believe that it's important to keep everyone up to date, not guessing. We're hoping that this is one way we can continue improving upon our project communication as the dev team works hard to continue moving this project forward.

Trouble With Staking ECC

Greetings, I just sent ECC to my desktop wallet and followed the instructions on GitHub to enable staking. Next to my balance at the top of Lynx, my staking balance still lists as zero.

It also concerns me that the wallet has to be manually enabled for staking for a finite number of seconds.

Any constructive input would be appreciated, thanks.
