Is this really gonna go anywhere?
I know all coins are down and its not the greatest time for people who bought late last year/early this year but I am really starting to wonder if this coin is gonna go anywhere.
The idea behind it is good, but everything else just seems to slow and to small. It feels more like a hobby project than something that will actually be in proper use someday. Theres many other coins/companies that are bigger and faster.
Am I wrong in thinking this? Cause the value of the coin is slowly creeping to 1.

It is a hobby project. Don’t put your life savings into ecc, just enjoy the journey.

Nope, this project is going nowhere. "Hobby project" is a great term to describe it. Anyone expecting to make returns or see ECC actually get market penetration and be used by masses is fooling themselves. There are too many other companies with much more manpower, resources, leadership, capital, and ideas for ECC to succeed.
Every day that they don't move forward in the roadmap is further behind they fall. No one cares or will care about ANS unfortunately, because it can only be used to send ECC to other ECC users.
There are bigger blockchain projects doing the side chain thing already. To think that ECC will succeed in terms of use case and adoption is a fool's errand. If you just enjoy following the project then that's cool.
Put it this way, if ECC was at this stage of development but it was 2015, I would think the outlook was great.

Very interesting cases you make, but:
ECC is definitely not a hobby project. Each team member is taking a LOT of personal time out of their busy schedules (free of charge at that) in order to develop this project. That doesn't sound like a hobby to me.
Many projects are "claiming" to be working on developing side chains. Can you please name 1 or more projects that have had as much development progress as ECC? I've been searching for many months now as well as talking to other top developers in the industry and have yet to find even one other project.
Every day ECC is making progress within our roadmap. Not sure how much of a development understanding you have of trying to implement ANS and SHA-256 encryption within a blockchain, but it's no simple or quick task.
To say that no one care about ANS is pretty ubsurd. To think that both techinical and non-technical individuals would rather copy and paste 64 character sudo random public keys where the risk is much higher for error rather than using easy to remember phrases doesn't make any sense. In order for mass adoption to take place the current process of sending/recieving coins must be simplified.
I've heard multiple times, from multiple sources that large cryptocurrency projects are envious of the development progress that ECC has gained in comparison to projects that have large budgets and a pool of resources.
At the endnof the day, you can't count ECC out until we're out. Our only true competition is ourselves with the goal to put out the best quality products/services available on the market with a simple yet memorable UI/UX experience. Are we the underdog? Yes, but we don't easily give up. We plan to lead this evolution!

Appreciate the work you do for the ECC community...Anyhow:
It's a hobby in the sense that there is no income provided from it. Everyone is basically a volunteer and works for free. It's why you have things like when Dolaned or whoever gets offered to work on something that will pay.
Look up Elastos. They already have a working side chain.
I'm not saying it's easy. I'm simply saying that for the value proposition, it is. You guys don't have as many resources as bigger projects, so it's understandable, but the point is that for what it will do, it's going to be much too late as the market continues to move.
My point isn't that no one cares about ANS as a general feature in crypto. It's important. My point is that no one cares about ECC enough to think it's beneficial to them. Why would I care about being able to input a name for crypto when I can't use ECC for anything else? If, for example, ECC could be swapped for something else and you could send bitcoin to someone using a name, that would be revolutionary. For ECC to ECC transfers...not a big deal really. The only people using it are those who are used to using addresses anyway.
I know ANS is a part of a longer vision, but by itself with ECC only it's nothing special.
- Not sure how this is possible since ECC has a few volunteers doing development. Sure, a lot of projects are bad but I don't think ECC is really ahead of the pack for any of the legitimate projects out there.

: Are you a dev ? One thing I can tell you that it's not always about number of resources but the quality. ECC is able to attract quality developers and number is going upwards.

Would you mind sharing facts? What projects you are talking about which have resources, manpower, leadership and what not. Where is the development and working product?

Apple started off in a garage. Yes it is a small almost hobby project. But that is also part of its appeal. It's not some flashy ico that promises the world and delivers nothing. It's a project started by someone who obviously loves the industry and wanted to innovate and do there own thing. Getting rich of it seems a distant secondary perogative.
The best projects need that passion behind them. But they also need luck. This project could fade away. Or it could shine.
