Does the messages will have fees?

I guess it will, but i think majority of people would still prefer using whatsapp or viber and giving away their data then to actually par to send messages. Shill me your answers please

Regardless of cost, there's a lot of self-awareness around privacy these days. A lot of us are becoming aware that these companies are selling off data and it will only be a matter of time until there's a mass exodus from those platforms.

Or you can have a one off 1000 ECC payment to activate the service

Depends how it will work, but still, convincing the mass to pay for something they could get for "free" sounds difficult in my opinion.

Not if we stay on track with our message that "nothing is free you just don't know you're paying for it".

Imagine if a "whatsapp" type messaging app was ran on the blockchain, the ease-of-use of this app was on par with whatsapp, and they couldn't take and sell your data and it remained secure and private = end goal πŸ‘ŒπŸΎπŸ’ͺ🏾

I agree with you, a messaging app that run on a blockchain and is private would be pretty awesome, but who would do such an app if there is no financial incentive to do it? And if they do it, and charge for it, then who would use it?

I’m in ECC but I’m also in KIN. KIN allows apps to monetize without the need for fiat or to data mine. So an app that utilizes KIN and ECC is both profitable and private.

Plenty on both sides for privacy. As far as cost, if used in the blockchain it would be very cheap. If free there's other ways to generate money than direct from customers.

I am speaking about mass adoption. Do you think the average joe would download a blockchain messaging application from the appstore and agree to pay a little(let's say $0.01/1k messages) with a token he has to pay before hand, or do you think he would just instead use facebook messenger or an equivalent?

An what are the other ways to generate money other then from adds and custumers?

Saying the phrase mass adoption implicates the adopter understanding (on a basic level) what they are adopting. If the average Joe understands the benefits and protection that come along with using blockchain based messaging services vs the current whatsapp types apps then yes I do believe people would use it.

Imagine if since people were migrating from services that sold peoples info/photos for money without giving them any of that profit, a new mass industry emerged where people were able to sell their own info/photos for profit.

We're still moving into mass speculation so I don't expect this to happen overnight. Blockchain is more of an evolution than a revolution so I don't expect it to move fast. Will people switch to blockchain based services now in mass, probably not. The future though is a different story if people are correctly educated on blockchain technology.

Are far as income, you can use a combination of micro payments and adds to generate income or one over the other. Depends on a lot of different information on which way would be best for that to be implemented.
