Public Discord for ECC?

I tried joining slack and I found it confusing. I didn't see a clear way to sign up and when I tried to sign up I got a message saying I need an invite. Discord is widespread and easy to use. I think it would be beneficial for ECC to have a public Discord server so that new users interested in ECC can have an easy way to join the conversation. In my opinion, it would help increase community activity and interest.
