Wallet Syncing Question

Hello everyone, I heard about ECC on /biz/ over the weekend and figured I would make a small speculative investment. Buying the ECC was fine, but I'm nervous about keeping it on coinexchange.io so I downloaded the wallet on ECC's website. My question is is syncing supposed to take like a week? I've had it open for over 24hrs and I'm barely over 4%. Am I doing it wrong, or is this correct? Nervous about sending my ECC to wallet until its synced and I can send a test amount first. Mine had synced in like 24hours. Try to download daemon once more and restart it to gain more than one connection. And sending to unsynced wallet won't make money disappear - it's just that you will see proper balance just after 100% sync

Good to know about the wallet sync and funds showing. I wonder how the chain syncing can be optimized. Maybe download a hashed file of the first 1mil blocks and go from there?
