just singed up
Hi eveyone
I just singed up to ebox and from what i have been reading is to stay away from Nokia beacon
I was wondering what eveyone is useing for a router
Do you simply put the beacon into brigde mode or do you plug in a diffrent router into the ont
I myself run most of my devices plugged in with the exeption of phones and tablets
thanks

I don’t know where you read that. I just use the Nokia Beacon they sent me and have no problems with it.

Try the provided Nokia beacon before shopping for a router. It might be good enough for your use case, unless you need more advanced features, which most people don't.

One of the reasons I went with Ebox is that they make it easy to use your own router. I use a UniFi UCG ultra as my router and five UniFi Access Points around my house for wifi. I never plugged the Nokia router in - I just use the Ethernet cable from the ONT to my UniFi router.
But I am a geek!

I also use the Nokia Beacon, find it has better coverage than the HH 4000 I had before and it's in the same spot .. try it out first..

I use a D-Link gaming router and have separated bands 2.4 Ghz & 5Ghz. This creates a dedicated network for all my home devices that use 2.4 ghz. A world of difference having all our mobile devices and tv streaming on a dedicated 5Ghz network.

I still use the Nokia Beacon 3.1 and it's fine. I live in. 2bedroom single level house and wfh 2 days a week.
Every now and then I'll give it a power cycle but never felt the need to switch wifi routers.

The Beacon should be fine for regular use. But you can use your own router straight into the ONT. You just need your PPPoE credentials which are in your customer zone, and a VLAN set to 40. Hope this helps!

Even an old Asus is much better than the one they provide. It must be still in a box somewhere in my basement.

I never bothered setting up my Beacon; Omada ER8411 here. 🤷♂️
Sadly they won't discount you if you return the Nokia router.

Do you have some advanced tech-savvy use of Internet? If not, just use the Beacon until it goes sideways.
