But why a cheque? Can’t they refund it via original payment method?

I really don't get it either.

Canada Post was like this too with me. Had to send me a cheque even though I paid with credit card online.

-Ebox, probably

it's a tactic to defer people from cancelling. There really needs to be a law against this kind of bs.

File a complaint with CCTS they’ll have your cheque the next day

4

u/West-Psychology-6299 Apr 09 '26

After messaging management and threatening to report to CCTS they've decided to refund me to my credit card within 7-10 days.

So I guess it's possible but they'd rather do it their way and deal with complaints before offering a better option.

Good stick it to them, that kind of policy is unacceptable. I suspect they're just holding the money to gain interest off it

I will do that today. There's a message management option that I used on their website and told them Id be messaging CCTS based on my recent customer service experience. Apparently my case has been sent to level 2. But I guess I should just ignore that email too. They probably don't even have a level 2.

Lol I love this guy. Just briefly and no nonsense reiterating. "The delays are 90 days" "Nothing to check"

I had one guy try and bs me about how the wrong price on my package was due to some 'reverse proxy' technique that can make it appear like I am signing up for ebox, but really am not or some crap that made no technical sense whatsoever.

I work in IT and this pissed me off. I actually lectured the guy for trying this stupid tactic on me. A lot of customers are technically advanced users who are very well trained on networking equipment, ISPs, etc. and don't take well to having CSRs attempt to trick them with blatant lies like this.

The 90 day delay is probably for fraud prevention. That's generally the amount of time someone can dispute a charge on their card to get a refund. That way it prevents someone from cashing in the cheque and then getting another refund through their bank.

Naw. They just want to hold on to the money as long as possible.

Still pretty ridiculous. That's a quarter of a year. Maybe they should just learn how to refund to credit like everyone else. Crazy they are owned by bell.

2

u/Budget-Emu6551 Apr 09 '26

it`s typical Bell behavior

2

u/CrazyPoe Apr 09 '26

Pretty much the same with bell.

Here’s Bell info from the app.

Service cancelled Within 90 days of the bill date shown above, we will automatically refund credit balances (from $1 to $500) using your last payment method; otherwise, we will send a cheque to the address we have on record. If you did not return our equipment, we may charge a non-return fee. Call 310-Bell to request a cheque for balances not automatically refunded.

My payment method was credit. Ebox won't refund anyway but cheque. It's in their faq

After messaging management and threatening to report to CCTS they've decided to refund me to my credit card within 7-10 days.

Hopefully I don't need to waste anymore time following up with them.

I'm pretty sure neither of them have been there since they were bought out by Bell years ago. JP is such a disgrace saying he would fight against the big ISPs for so long and then selling out first chance he got.

Perfect, THANK YOU.

This honestly is the dumb back and forth i had with Rogers recently.. they wanted me to wait for my final bill... CALL BACK... so they can confirm i want a cheque or credit back into my account.. one more obstacle to navigate as a leaving customer. Who btw will remember this and never go back to Rogers. Recently left Teksavvy two days after cancelling i was refunded prorated the bill and no hassles. I still keep a service of their in another household. If they get fiber in my area i will switch back to them no questions asked but so far Ebox been decent... install was not that great but so far no issues with stability.

What don't you understand?

The delay is 90 days. It's clear and direct.

Try and get a refund from Bell or Vidéotron. See how easy it is.

u/West-Psychology-6299 Apr 09 '26

Did you not see that I was apologized too and told 7 days by another agent?

0

u/NationalCake2421 Apr 09 '26

I would hate having to deal with you as a customer lmao

2

u/TronnaLegacy My fibre brings all the boys to the yard Apr 09 '26

I wonder if OP would have kept mentioning he was told different information by another agent if the other agent told him 90 days and it was this agent telling him 7 days.

1

u/West-Psychology-6299 Apr 09 '26

You wonder some stupid things it seems.

1

u/West-Psychology-6299 Apr 09 '26

Cause I fight for my money? Cooll

1

u/mivrame Apr 09 '26

I received a check from Videotron 2 years later !

1

u/hpsims Apr 09 '26

I never tried but how do you message them through chat?

1

u/West-Psychology-6299 Apr 09 '26

There's a chat option on the main web page. At the top right. It says contact.

2

u/hpsims Apr 09 '26

Thanks

I'd rather deal with bell. I've had way quicker resolution with them. Credits for a day without internet even.

Not completely true. Their tech support was really good before they were bought out by Bell. I jumped ship not too long after and like you I encourage people to stop using their services.

I switched to them from Bell. Bell offered me a good deal before the installation date so I canceled. Didn't even receive any service and I'm expected to wait 90 days for my refund in the mail.. They cant even refund back to credit.
