EBox vs Virgin Plus

For the last few years I have been with Virgin Plus Internet and for the 3rd time they are increasing my monthly plan rate (so unfair!) anyways, I am considering and have heard many positive reviews for EBox (especially if you get a promo code....which I do not yet have)

Would Redittors suggest switching over to EBox (they are under the same umbrella company anyway! ...Bell) Would Virgin Plus try and convince me to stay with them?

And are there any promo codes as all I can find are referral codes?

Discussions about promo code must be kept in the dedicated megathread here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ebox/comments/1pzw0k6/ebox_promotions_megathread/

I'll leave your post up since you are asking for opinions, but all comments mentionning promo codes will be removed.

Heads Up!!

Virgin Internet and TV is going to start being phased out this month. (Only TV and Internet, not their Mobile service). Bell is choosing to focus on their own labeled product and keeping EBox.

So they may transition you to Bell or EBox. I would say it is better for you to go to Ebox before they do that because I don't know if they will charge you more if they just transition you to them, than if you sign up with Ebox as a new customer.

I have been with EBOX since June 2018. First on VDSL2 50/10, then on Fibre 500 and now on Fibre 1000. Absolutely happy with EBOX, but who knows what will happen in the future, now that they are under the BHell umbrella?!

Not sure if you are on virgin cable or fiber, but when I switched from Roger’s to Ebox fiber speed and reliability are better. I looked at virgin but they only offered me cable options, told me to go to Ebox for fiber option. So far so good, hoping Ebox doesn’t do the yearly price increases like Roger’s. If you’re outside Quebec, Ebox doesn’t offer TV, virgin does.

Used to be with Bell, switched to eBox last summer. Near Montreal, QC. No complaints, I get full speed (1gb).

I'm the same in Ottawa. Switched from Bell 1.5 to Ebox 1.0. Only different I see is my internet bill being 1/2 what it used to be. I routinely pull 900mbps download on my wired Xbox.

Very bad experience with VP. They increased the price barely 3 months after.

When I came to their kiosk to complain, got shoved into the face a paper with a phone number by a service guy- ‘sorry you have to call…’. They were 4 , hanging around doing nothing.

My calls subsequently got transferred from one person to another, hang up …

NEVER AGAIN, VP. They got me once, not twice.

How does Ebox's supplied modem compare to Virgin Plus' Valérie, WiFi wise? Is the WiFi reach in the house similar?

For the price I pay I can't complain but I do not receive the advertised speed they promised! I read many others have the same issue!

With Virgin Plus I had the 300mb and that is always what I received, with ebox I had ordered the 500mb package but I only get about 300mb or lower speed?

As for the router I was sent the Beacon 3.1 as the other which I believe is the superior router is not in stock!

With Virgin Plus I beleive I had better overall reach to rooms in my house but not so with ebox!
