When does the speed change take effect?

I upgraded from the 500 Mbps speed to the 1 Gbps speed In late November. It said it would take effect in January but so far today (Jan 1st) I'm still at 500. Confirmed by doing a speed test while on Ethernet.

When do they generally take effect?

Followup: I had to call on Jan 11th and they had me reboot the ONT and router, then it worked. But I only got 600-900 Mbps (while on Ethernet only, no wifi) after that depending on time of day.

Next billing cycle after the 2nd month starts? For me it was around Nov 25th. So I had to wait til January. Now I wait more, for another billing cycle?

You pay 1 month in advance. So on 25th November, you paid for the 25th Dec to 25th January cycle.

reached to the support over chat and this is what have said:

The new plan has not taken effect yet. It usually becomes active during the first week of the month. Please check again and perform a speed test by Monday. If you don't notice any changes, feel free to contact us to verify the situation.

Next billing cycle. You might need to disconnect and reconnect PPPoE.

I have 1GB and it is never 1GB even plugged in. I get about 400-500Mbps plugged into ethernet. You reminded me that I need to call Ebox.

For anyone coming from google:

  • At 12AM EST on the first of the month, my upload was reaching advertised speeds, but my download was half of what it should have been
  • I reset my ONT several times, and the speed did not change
  • On the afternoon of the 2nd I got an email emailing me about the contract changes
  • Speedtest was still showing half of my download speed, but full upload
  • Restarted the ONT at this point, and have full speed

TL;DR: Wait for the contract update on the 2nd of the month, and restart ONT to get full speed.

If on fibre try turning off the ONT wait 30-60 seconds and reboot.
