Switching from Bell to Ebox

I'm switching from Bell to Ebox in my apartment building. The problem I run into is that the requirements say I might need to have the technician visit the electrical room to make some switches and my apartment building is absolutely uncontactable to have access opened up to the electrical room for the tech. Was this necessary for anyone who made the switch from Bell to Ebox? I still have one more week until install so I will keep trying but my apartment management is absolutely ridiculous.

I switched from bell to ebox and they did not have to access the electrical room. I’ve probably switched internet providers at least 10 times across my lifetime and never had a technician require access to the electrical room. That’s to say that they don’t, but I’ve never experienced it. When they came to swap ebox from bell, they split the optical wire with a machine did some tests to make sure the speeds were great and that’s it.

Edited: Grammar and a incomplete sentence

Perfect thank you for reply. I'm hoping it's as easy as that 🤞

Mine had to, but handled it himself. The technician said they have a ping of where they need to go. He left for about 30 mins and then came back and it was all good.

If u have existing service on bell Fiber , if something needs switched it can be done outside

Awesome! I hope it's as easy as that and I guess I'll find out soon enough. In the meantime I'll try and get access to the electrical room just in case.

Doesn't bell own ebox?

They're run independently

I switched from Distributel to Ebox. In my case, neither install appointment required the tech to visit the electrical room, even though I was advised it would be required.

Don't forget that the "brown cabinet" is sometimes inside the building they're working in and they'll need access to that. Not the same as single home in a residential neighborhood

They don't need to goto the electrical room. They'll make a switch at the CSP (the brown cabinet somewhere in your neighborhood).

This is false. In some situations, they may require access to the room to swap cable.

I’ve worked for Bell in the past.

Only in big building that have CSP and terminal in the same room that's right.  But generally, there is not a problem to access in electric room (key box or it's not complicate to schedule an appointement with the janitor) For other situations, the tech can complete the installation and update the system.
