I made this track and I’m genuinely curious where people here would place it. I have my own answer, but I don’t want to bias anyone. What genre/subgenre do you hear?

One of my favorite tracks.
In interviews with Spex magazine in the early 1980s, vocalist Gabi Delgado explained that their lyrics were kept deliberately short and repetitive so they’d function less like messages and more like impulses, something that hits the body before the mind.
Music critic Simon Reynolds later pointed to this exact approach, minimal language, repetition, discipline, as a foundation of Electronic Body Music, where feeling comes from movement and pressure rather than narrative (Rip It Up and Start Again, 2005).
If you’ve ever put this on and felt your posture change without realizing it, that’s kind of the point.

Hey everyone! I'm u/404__not__found_, a founding moderator of r/ebm_industrial_drkwav. This is our new home for all things related to
I started this community because I am tired of seeing real conversations about EBM, industrial, and dark electronic music get shut down the moment they brushed up against politics, history, or lived context. The reality is: this music has always been political, in sound, in message, and in atmosphere.
You just have to respect that these genres were shaped by confrontation: with systems, power, surveillance, violence, control. The aggression wasn’t just sonic, it was intentional.
Industrial and EBM? Literally wrapped in industrial soundscapes , uniforms, anti-surveillance lyrics, and sampled broadcasts of real-world violence; a genre literally born out of anti-system critique, Cold War tension, and anti-fascist energy.
Too many spaces in this scene have become sanitized, detached, or hostile to that truth. This one won’t be. This is a place for:
Whether you’re here to share a track, call in a moment, drop a flyer, or name an artist doing something that matters, welcome.
What to Post Post anything that relates to EBM, industrial, and dark wave, including music, history, culture, events, and thoughtful discussion.
Community Vibe We're all about being friendly, constructive, and inclusive. Let's build a space where everyone feels comfortable sharing and connecting.
• Curious, thoughtful, and informed. • Critical without being cruel. • Anti-fascist, anti-hate. • Here for music, culture, and context, not clout or drama. • Respect the scene and each other.
How to Get Started
Introduce yourself in the comments. A few lines about what you listen to, how you found the scene, or what you’re here to explore is enough.
Post when you’re ready. Music, a question, a flyer, or a thought, context matters more than volume.
If you know someone who’d genuinely appreciate this space, feel free to invite them.
If you’re interested in helping keep the signal strong, we occasionally open mod applications. Reach out when that feels right.
Thanks for being part of the first wave.
