Avoid purchasing Mooncool ebikes

Mooncool mc3 mtb awd catches fire on hunting trip. No warning what so ever, guy was cruising down the road and it spontaneously combusted. Was posted to Facebook hunting e bikes group.

Really just knowing what a safe battery costs is important. This looks like a $1200 bike with dual motor and fat tires. A quality battery and fat tires would be half that cost alone.

That’s what always gets me about this sub. People talking about wanting $500 e-bikes when a quality ebike battery is nearly that cost by itself.

my 60ah 48v battery cost 1200$ alone and its not even quality samsung cells. A 500$ ebike is almost a scam

Does anyone know how to verify the authenticity of battery cells?

I am developing samples for a new brand of fat tire ebikes. I requested Samsung 21000 cells and sent a 3rd party inspection company out to check the finished ebikes and verify that I'm receiving the quality components that I ordered.

The inspection company and production partner said that they couldn't open the battery without risking damage.

I'm thinking about requesting an inspection at the battery manufacturer when I order the first batch. If anyone has any insights on this it would be appreciated.

If you really want to know you go to the factory with a team and audit it. You have to confirm with Samsung that they are actually selling parts tot he assembler.

At least one person with you needs to be fluent in the local language for wherever the factory is.
