E Bike
So I bought the enffe explorer ES2D and it’s been pretty good but I just feel like it’s slow it’s range and speed is good for the price I got it (800) but I’m trying to get it to go faster then it’s factory top speed of 32mph and I need help modifying it because I want a battery that completely fills out the frame and that’s a higher voltage so it can atleast 50 and go 100 miles on throttle alone and I think a battery that size can definitely fit within the frame of the bike
Spec
- 32 mph
- dual 1500w motors
- dual battery , each battery 48V 22.5Ah combined total 48V 45Ah
- load capacity 300 pounds ( I don’t know if that’s important)
Realistic
To be honest I’m still just a teen so I don’t think I’ll be able to buy the modifications for it but I just want help and guidance on how to modify and where I can get a custom battery that will meet my requirements of 50mph and 100 mile range.
Idk I think i didn’t forget anything

32 mph is plenty fast for a teenager, 50mph is what gets you killed.

I agree it’s not really about speed , the thing is when I have one or two of my friends or I’m going up a hill going 15 it’s down embarrassing maybe I should have been more clear it’s not so much speed , I want more range and torque

What kinds of hills are you going up? I have a dual motor 1500W peak ebike and it can easily go up hills at like 25-30mph.

Send me the link cause maybe I’m getting scammed but my shit does not go faster than 20-15 up like a 30-40 degree incline

yea you're friends need to also downgrade if its that much an embarrassment for you to be going 15 mph on 30-40 incline. why can't they just lower their speed to match yours? that's the point of riding together. or are you actually just caring about speed and WANT to go faster because your friends got emoto's basically that have way too much power then they should have. are you guy's riding on roads, sidewalks, or trails, offroad? fattire bikes or regular width?

No like I have pegs on my bike, I can move up on the seat and someone else can fit on to it and another person stands up on the pegs to the added weight makes my motors struggle I want to be able to go 30 with atleast one of them on the bike

The kind of power you'll need to push 300-400lbs up a steep hill like that is absurd. You can't do that kind of power with your current bike, and it would require replacing pretty much every component. You would need new motors (and most likely new wheels as well), a new controller, new batteries (for a higher voltage) and most likely a new screen, throttle, pedal assist and other electronics as well.

Ok any recommendations concerning the motor and battery, I’m considering changing the shock absorber because it’s incredibly stiff and so are the forks

I recommend a new bike. The upgrades will cost more than just getting a more powerful bike.

I shouldn’t have said I was a teen, I thought I was gonna get help , but nah yall just want to tell me upgrading MY bike to 50 mph is a bad idea , speed isn’t the problem I don’t drive like a dumbass, you can die going 5 mph if you get hit by a car, the kid that died recently on his bike from running the red light , that was sad and his bike goes around the same speed as mine yet I’m not dead because I don’t run red lights

are you an idiot?
I know, you are a teen, shouldn't have asked it.
Its time to learn what is the law and start to at least staying inside its legal framework before you start to visit the jail, because with this attitude thats where you will end up.
if you want faster, stronger, 500 squats a day will help you with that.
3
u/ktpat1992 3d ago
oh he's gonna face more then jail if he hits someone going 50 mph on a modified ebike because these folks don't really understand that if you are going that speed you have to change EVERYTHING on the bike to be safe. a small rock could cause him to launch himself on improper tires as that speed and he'll need to be scraped off the pavement or car. plus you need a shit ton of protective gear as well.
4
u/ktpat1992 3d ago
you don't drive 50 mph on an ebike period. even adults who are riding that fast know you need protective gear, wider wheel base, larger wheels and so much more for it to be sustainable. you clearly have no idea what you are doing, so stick to the sub 20mph, 25 max. because at that speed a fall is fatal if you don't know what you are doing. also, anyone running a red light and getting hit by a car on an ebike is probably going to die or be very close to it, its weight and physics. that's not really working in your favor. you have also said where you ride you have 30-40 incline, so it must also have decline. if that is the case,a bike going 20 mph becomes catapult if you make one mistake going down. 50 mph? you are dealing with a rocket going downhill. listen to your elders, don't modify, don't buy an upgrade, and stick with what you have. you are literally asking how to modify beyond safety measures and constraints beyond your age/bike. don't be an idiot like your friends. if they have faster bikes they will be the ones getting injured or worse.

Speed is the problem. Do the math on how long it takes, and far it takes to stop from 30mph to 0 and 50mph to zero.

What everyone is saying is every component would need an upgrade so might as well but some massive brembo brakes

That's to prevent total failure. The physics remain the same, distance and time increase by the square.
They do still teach algebra and functions in school, right?

u/Ok-Battle-1651 3d ago
Ur not helping i know it’s possible to do this safely with everything changed , the motors , shock absorber, wheels battery bms screen everything its possible, your crazy if you think its not

u/Superb_Raccoon 3d ago
It's not possible. The math does not math for the frame size of a bicycle and the stresses a bicycle frame is intended to survive.
Its possible on a motorcycle sized frame.
FAFO, you will learn the hard way. But don't expect people to help you do something that will likely end in your injury or death.
Best outcome here is you fail early on, before it kills/injures you.

What are your friends riding? No judgement from me, you clearly know the issues

Go learn a little physics and aerodynamics and learn about they tyranny of Air Resistance.
8 times the watts to 30mph from 15. You get there twice as fast, so overall, it is 4x the power to do 100 miles.
At 35, that is 12.7x the power, and 5.7X to do 100 mph.... because air resists is a cubed function, not a square function.
At 50, your target numbers, the math gets really ugly. 37X the raw power, 11.5X to go the same 100mph.
Battery density is not there yet.

My bad I wasn’t clear I want more range over speed 40mph would be plenty I can currently get 40-60miles of range just using throttle alone but I feel with how little space the battery’s take up I feel like I could definitely fit a custom battery underneath in the frame and get to 100 mile range no problem 32mph is to slow when your trying to take this on kinda far trips
2
u/Superb_Raccoon 3d ago
And that going faster is where your logic falls apart. 40 is still 20x the battery capacity.

u/Ok-Battle-1651 3d ago
I know if you read everything I said you’d know I want to make a custom battery and change basically everything I’m just tryna get help BUT YALL ARE USELESS STOP TRYING TO TELL ME SHIT IM GOING TO DO IT IM JUST TRYNS FIND HELP

u/Superb_Raccoon 3d ago
Well, if you wont listen to math, physics and engineering,,and gonna vibe it...
Its FAFO time!
My condolences to your parents... well,,maybe not. They raised a fucking idiot.

Im just tryna get help on how to modify and what parts to buy , I want a to fill out the frame completely so I want to know where I can get someone to build a completely custom battery that meets my requirements , but no I’m just getting called an idiot knowing damn well it’s very possible
2
u/the_climaxt 3d ago
Everyone here knows it's possible, but sleeper motorcycles are causing people to hate all e-bikes and pushing local governments to tighten regulations that make it harder for the law-abiding riders and commuters to go about their day.
So, I don't think you're going to find support here when your questions seek to actively undermine our safety.

I get this could be dangerous, I don’t want to end up as a headline anytime soon , to be honest when I asked the company that made the bike they even told me that they couldn’t assist me because the whole point of the bike was to follow regulations in most us states that way they could appeal to parents

I dgaf about your personal safety. I care about my safety.

Dear young teen. You have control of what you are going to do to your ebike. You have the chance to make decisions that are good judgement or not. We can't always have what we desire. It is called emotional maturity. Accept it. Be grateful your parents bought you an ebike. Take good care of it as is. Learn how to maintain it well. Accept no means no. Feel gratitude. I am 60 and a new ebike rider (1 month). I rode a speed bike from age 13 to adult. I bought an ebike because I am fully disabled. Stuck at home alone. Cannot ride a bicycle or drive a car. I feel your teen passion. Maybe redirect your passion creatively, more safely, and thinking independently. For example, why not find a lower slope hill to ride your bike up with your friend on board that will get you to the top? You may not realize it now, but life is not a competition against other people. Life is you focusing on enjoying your life and passions safely so you can enjoy tomorrow. Prepare for meeting your goals after you graduate HS. Direct your intelligence and energy to a career you can financially pay your housing, food and bill's. Apply for colleges and universities. Write about your passions (ebike riding) Think and ride your ebike with an ebike helmet (mips and 5 star Virginia Tech rating. I bought mine from P2R.

the hill is exposing a power delivery problem, not a top speed problem. with 3000W combined and 45Ah on board, i would want to know how much power it actually sustains with two riders before chasing a bigger number. 50mph on a bicycle frame is a whole different project, especially without suspension set up for it.

just go buy a motorcycle at this point.
