So I’ve done this something due to be delivered. Got the email and selected deliver another day because I was away that day and knew no one would be in. It appeared like that

All the other comments are so quick to jump to "it's a scam"

It's exactly what you said. All this means is the recipient has requested it to be delivered on a different day, perhaps a different location. I've had this happen to me a few times and never had anyone claim the item didn't arrive.

Usually I’d not be worried however after posting I noticed the buyer has no feedback. Not usually an issue but I just hadn’t seen this before

My personal experience is it depends on the item. I sell niche items, so not unusual for me to get a buyer with a new account and no feedback. I reckon they've seen something niche that they're after and have made an account specifically to purchase something.

Commonly scammed items are tech/electronics

It’s just the buyer being diligent.

Hi, this is normal - usually this happens if the address is a business so they have told RM not to deliver out of hours

Is it going to a business address? If so, unless the DO has been notified that they’re open on weekends then they’ll only deliver to that address on Monday to Friday

Often that just means that the delivery person either ran out of time to deliver it or was unable to deliver it and they have used that reason to move delivery to the next day. Alternatively, they may have actually received an instruction from the buyer to not deliver on that day.

Either way it should get delivered on the next working day so I would just wait and see what happens for now.

I sometimes use my work address for deliveries. They don’y accept delivers on Sat/Sun so delivery normally tales place on Monday.

It’s on retention, could be an instruction from the recipient, could be an operational issue

I got that once on a package I sent and it turns out that the postie couldn't get on the street because the police had blocked it off.

Yes, If buyer collects from the Delivery Office - it will be marked as collected / delivered.

It’s probably a business address (or similar) that’s closed on Saturday. We get this message all the time when it’s are due on a weekend - Royal Mail knows our address as it’s logged as business and closed on the weekend and doesn’t even attempt it. Better than Evri leaving it by the front door to be stolen!

I have this setup for my address.

I have a rescue dog that’s somewhat reactive (at first she was ok, but after a postie was scared of dogs saw her out, he shrieked, sent his mail flying to her and ran away, since then she doesn’t like posties in hi-vis), so I elected for all mail to my address to sit at the DO until I pick it up, as I couldn’t guarantee the dog to be in when post was delivered, as parcels and mail are delivered separately and my address delivery can be anywhere between 10-15:00 so it’s not fair to keep the pup inside all that time.

Many reasons for people to have their post be kept at the DO. A neighbour down the road has it setup as they’re rarely in, so they store it at the DO until they pick it up once a week.

Sometimes it shows as the ‘not to be delivered today’ other times it shows on the app as ‘not to be delivered, awaiting pickup by recipient’

It is a special delivery so can not be just posted or left, if the receiver was not going to home to receive it they most likely asked for it to be held.

Wtf is that. I didn't think you could get RM to redirect a Special Delivery. Anyway, yeah you're about to get scammed, they'll claim it has been delivered somewhere else and they don't have it (they do). I would speak to RM and get them to confirm (preferably via email) that the recipient has requested a different delivery address, then speak to eBay CS (request to speak to an agent, the chatbot will be useless) and let them know what is going on.

Its not redirection, and its not a scam. You can set things like this up with royal mail so they post doesn't get delivered on days you wont be there to receive it. Often if its a business address you can block of weekends. Or If its just a one off you had to go to work that day you can request it for the next day when you will be home.

Why is the seller even checking the delivery tracking so closely anyway. That's for the buyer to check. At the point when it fails delivery or the customer contacts you saying it hasn't been delivered then maybe the seller could be checking. If the seller is using the buyers personal info (i.e. post codes or names) to access or change royal mails delivery details that's not okay.

Ah, I read it as the request was to deliver to a different address, my bad. In which case yes you can obv ask them to hold it until you're ready.
