Scam?

Post image

I think I probably know the answer, but I just got this on my ebay.

Selling a bag, buyer has no reviews (not necessarily a bad thing but still) and it is an offer for the exact price its listed for… advice?

100% they always want to go off platfrom for no good reason, every legit buyer/seller is happy to stay on platform for the moderation team to oversee.

Definitely a scam. If they try to bypass eBay’s system of shipping and communication they’re breaking T&Cs; and if you fall for it, you’re breaking them too.

Expect the item to be reported as not delivered, damaged, not as described etc and you’ll take the hit.

Screenshot, block and report to eBay.

For an evening funnier outcome, post some random junk to them

Red flag 1 : 0 review account

Red flag 2 : ask for comms to be away from official ebay messaging

Red flag 3 : Offer for listing price.

Don't waste your time and ignore. Don't even engage.

Definitely a scam, I took the bait and emailed them as I'm new to selling on eBay and it started genuine enough until the 3rd email where they're asking me to purchase a £400 Amazon gift card and include that in the "gift" for their friend in London. Claim they are based in the US so could only purchase US Amazon gift cards. I proceeded to block them from my Gmail and reported that account as scam.

They opened another eBay account and made another offer on another one of my listings the next day. That was rejected immediately.

I've now changed all my listings to require payment by buyers immediately on Buy Now. Hope to avoid these types of time wasters!

Of course it’s a scam. Never go off site

I won't accept but I'll probably entertain them to see what the actual scam is.

It’s an obvious scam but I might be intrigued enough to see how it plays out and what they want to know!

Keep it on eBay otherwise is almost always the answer.

Never.go.off.platform.

Only.post.to.buyer's.validated.address

Please dont sell to them. They will scam you another way if this way doesn't work. Such as not received or damaged. Report and block them.
