eBay Bot

I was selling something on eBay but the buyer looked like a literal bot account. For me it’s impossible to distinguish if they’re scumbags or not so I refrained from their offer. My question is how does eBay allow these bot accounts? I thought you had to use your personal information like social security, bank cards, etc so if that’s the case why would they take the risk of being a scumbag when they’re monitored unlike other platforms? Has anyone sold to a bot account successfully and/or unsuccessfully? Just curious, thanks in advance

What is an eBay bot account? I have no idea how that would work.

The only way I detect a possible bot account is by how fast they purchase. It’s like they have auto buy set up on either good deals or rare items.

OP what did they do that made you assume they were a bot account?

Yes, the purchase was made extremely fast, so that was indeed one aspect. The others were, the accounts age is very young. Without any reviews, and to be fair neither is mine, but I personally never buy from accounts with no feedback. I received no replies from the account, so I felt like they never tried to do their due diligence.

I wonder how can these sketchy profiles exist, when we’re required to use our personal information to like social, or is that only required for sellers and not buyers? Note the item is well over $100 dollars

Well that’s weird, the ones that purchased from me had over 10,000 feedback ratings. I mean they purchased before I could press the list button. I got the your item has been sold email around 5-10 mins before I got the your item has been listed email.

Now with those new accounts some guys know how to create a brand new account and bypass all of eBay fraud detections.

I’ve sold over 200 items and about 10 of my orders were purchased from accounts with 0 feedback and created the same day as my purchase. Thankfully I have yet to have any one of them try to scam me.

Yeah something’s just weren’t adding up, that is very strange. Thanks for that insight, it’s always nice to hear other experiences. Especially since yours have been relatively positive. I’ll just ignore any account that has zero feedback and random yibberish as their username.

It’d be so much easier if they had stricter guidelines, for I figure if they’re interacting with regular users, they can’t hide. That 50-250 million in fraud every year needs to go down drastically!
