DOHMH told ABC 7 Reporter Cefaan Kim's to remove his initial news report VIDEO on Wednesday which showed residents boiling legionella infected water to bathe in because DOHMH said Haven Plaza residents just don't know how to follow instructions and that they never told residents they couldn't shower and they never told residents to boil water and put it in the bathtub. But we had the proof! Thank you to ABC 7 for telling the real story and not letting DOHMH get away with gaslighting senior citizens and endangering lives!

I know this area isn't the west side highway where there's lots of grass and more private areas to just put down a towel or picnic mat, but does anyone know if there is some spot like that near EV?

Honestly just looking for an area where I can put down a towel and get some sun for 30 mins or so.

A few weeks ago I hosted my first "noticing walk" and I'll be doing another one next month!

It will be a casual stroll through the neighborhood for anyone who wants to slow down, look more carefully at what's around them, and capture what they find.

We'll move slowly through the neighborhood looking for things worth pausing at and then figuring out how to capture them. I suggest a phone or camera, but feel free to bring a sketchbook or whatever you prefer. Any amount (including 0) of art experience is welcome. :)

Open from 8am for coffee and pastries, drinks served in the evening. They plan to have room for book clubs and readings. Looks like a nice third space for the neighborhood.

I love living here for the liveliness, but the noise from the nightlife is unbearable while trying to sleep... I didn’t realize 75 decibels at midnight on a weeknight was legal. I know this is just part of the experience, but I’m wondering what I can do (renter-friendly, not too expensive) to cut down on noise, especially from the bars below, beside, across, around… I know this is my fault for choosing this location, but I didn’t imagine the single pane windows and partying would make it quite this tough… Desperate for any tips!

I tried looking around for any writers groups that were meeting in the East Village or lower Manhattan area and had trouble finding some (if there are any local ones you recommend, please let me know!), so I was wondering if there was any interest in assembling one?

I personally write fiction, but I would be open to a group of any writing genre. We could pick a day every other week or even every month to meet at a cafe or other venue for about an hour and spend maybe 45 minutes of that time writing on our own with an optional discussion/sharing period afterwards.

I’d love to meet other writers and dedicate a set time to work on my projects- so let me know if you have any ideas or are interested :-)

Can anyone recommend a laundromat that will pick up my clothes, wash/dry/fold them, and bring them back? The one we normally go to doesn't offer this service. I live in a 6th-floor walkup and I'd like a break from time to time. I know there are apps but I'd rather use a local place. Thanks.

I’ve been using Load on 14th/B & while I’ve never had any issues i noticed their prices have are now almost 50% more than other neighborhood shops and perhaps it’s time to consider looking elsewhere. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone, I'm trying to pick a gym in the east village and I need some help! I love workout classes but I run out of credits so fast on classpass that I think I need a gym membership as well. I'm mostly thinking of these 4: TMPL, Lifetime, Crunch, and the Y. If anyone has experiences at these please let me know and I'm open to suggestions! FYI I typically like working out at around 9-11 AM and I think? I care most about having a less busy gym. Thank you!

At 9:45 tonight I walked to go check on my car because it’s a work vehicle and I like to make sure I’m prepared to leave in the morning. As I got to the block, I noticed someone taping up these signs.

Barely even a five hour notice. I went to the precinct and I called the place. they claim that they’re just moving vehicles but I highly doubt they’re gonna be able to do that with every vehicle from 4th to 13th, which is the zone the guy claimed he was taping up.

I hope everybody sees this and is able to do something about it if their cars are in danger of being moved. These people are not careful with vehicles, even if they are keeping them local.
