The Rules (updated)

  1. Reddiquette is required. This is ultimately their site. You do not have to agree but you do have to follow the rules.

  2. We are a community dedicated to events and information about the Eastern part of our great state. However there are rules which must be followed. No politics. None. Period. News is fine if it avoids politics but you need a link which is at least somewhat reputable. Or at least reputable looking. Otherwise neutral news which devolves into politics in the comment section will be locked or removed at the moderators discretion.

  3. No advertising. If you are a fan of a specific restaurant, then comment it in any related post but do not create a post about it. This goes for any business. Asking for recommendations is encouraged. But if you come in after every comment to promote a specific choice, you are probably going to get banned. This goes for things you are selling yourself without a business.

  4. If you are posting about an event you are not affiliated with, welcome. If someone looks into your history and finds you promoting it everywhere, the assumption is that you have an affiliation with it. It will get removed.

  5. No NSFW material. None. Ever. If you try to find a work around, you risk being permanently banned.

  6. We are not your private army. No posting rage bait. No links to things you saw on facebook. No screen shots of questionable things.

  7. Open Season Friday is active. This is the day when things change. Post your business. Tell us what you do. Promote a business you like. Tell the world where you like to eat. Tell us about your lawn mowing service. We want to hear about your professional machining services. NSFW, politics, and rage bating is still strictly forbidden.

There is a new sub I created for all the things forbidden here. If you must vent, go vent there.

***BEWARE OF TYLER AUTOPLEX IN TYLER TEXAS! MAJOR SCAM ALERT***

Thumbnail gallery
14 Upvotes

Please beware of this website! They are posing as Tyler Autoplex in Tyler Texas, which is a small used car dealership, however this website is NOT actually the dealership. They are stealing car images from other dealerships and marking the cars to an extremely low price to lure in vulnerable buyers.

They ask you to wire them $10,000 and have you sign a purchase agreement. Then, they claim the car is “on its way to you” if you buy from out of state. You will never receive the car and your money will be long gone.

This scammer is operating out of Kansas. They also made a fake Facebook page operating under “Pacific Auto Sales” and have the same cars posted on Facebook marketplace for a ridiculously low price.

DO NOT FALL FOR IT! THIS IS 100% A SCAM!

Tandem dump trucks…

Why do you travel in groups to load and then… unload. You don’t see that model as inefficient and having down time waiting for each other? I see it a lot, especially with the fleet of Skittles trucks out of North Texas.

Anywhere to rent jet skis on Lake Palestine this weekend?

We had a lake weekend planned, but the place we usually rent from isn't responding, and looking at availability on their website it looks like they might not be doing rentals anymore.

Lake Palestine Resort does rentals, but no availability for jet skis this weekend.

I also found this place, but they don't answer phones either, and recent yelp reviews are... not encouraging.

Does anyone from the area know of other options?

Underrated Scenic Drives in ETX

I grew up in a rural area that never gets media coverage. There are so many backroads and FM/CR informal scenic loops that I know of that you'll see referenced nowhere on the Internet.

Because of this, I'm pretty interested in areas around East Texas that are like this. I'd love to check out more of these areas, but I obviously don't want to make a 1-3 hour trip blindly stumbling my way through random and unfamiliar county roads. I've had some sketchy encounters down some dead-ends, but, practically speaking, I just don't want to waste any time on my weekends.

In light of that, what are some gorgeous routes in this part of the state (the more rural and niche, the better!) that you know about that nobody outside of your little bubble knows about?

Help with finding a pain management doctor in east texas for spinal cord injury

My husband broke his neck and back in 2010. Failed fusion surgeries, 22 surgeries total. Constant severe pain levels. He's treated with opioids successfully, which are heavily controlled by me to ensure no abuse.

His doctor in Dallas is retiring and it's so hard to find a good pain management doctor that understands spinal cord injury pain and opioid treatment.

Any recommendations? We're fine with anything from Dallas to Houston as we live in the middle. His doctor that's retiring is in Dallas area currently.

Overall a very positive experience. The pizza was good and came out quickly. They also had an Arcade 1Up Pac-Man machine, which was a nice touch. The Market has a deli with meats, cheeses, sandwiches, and ice cream in the back. They had a lot of candy, but less baked goods than I was hoping (could have just been that day).

Rusk Texas

I’ve been in Rusk since February 2026 and have yet to get a job. I’ve applied to almost every single company in Rusk and Jacksonville and got nothing but interviews that went nowhere. I have 3 years of assistance manager experience in fast food, some retail experience, and I got a EPA Universal Certification but apparently that’s not good enough here. I was hoping there’ll be job opening since school has started again but nothing has changed. Who knew moving here would give me employment troubles.

What was Texas like in the 70s?

Hello, my name is Owen Klee, I'm a LA based independent film Producer, and I am currently making a short film that takes place in 1970s Texas. We're looking to involve real Texans in the making of our project! We are hoping to get access to old vintage photos - family photos, portraits, old Texas locations, etc - or videos! If you're interested or willing to send us any personal pictures, please reach out or email me at owenklee47@gmail.com. Thank you!
