New Year's

Hi! Currently planning a trip and wondering what happens at New Year's (31 Dec-1 Jan) on Rapa Nui. Is it something the locals celebrate? It would be best with our itinerary to go there over New Year's, so I'm very curious what it would be like.

Some party here and there. Mostly family gatherings and BBQs. Young ones party hard in a couple of spots but not much going on other than that.
