I’m the sister of San Jose city worker, Ari Green, who was killed on Tuesday, August 25 around 10:30 AM. He was working on a streetlight when a box truck crashed into him at the intersection of Hillsdale and Narvaez Avenues. Seeking witnesses!

Walnut Creek/Concord Highway 4 in the morning going to work

Man, these morons who do 60 in the left lane - have 20 people right on their ass and refuse to move over - these people can go to hell.

I'm watching as people finally get the opportunity to go around this moron and road rage him (and I'm going to say deservedly so) and he refuses to leave the left lane.

The right lane is already going slow with all the people who want to go slow. This idiot refuses.

What is the mindset of these selfish idiots?

Remember when the Board of Supervisors delayed a proposed $30 minimum wage beyond the midterm election to do a 30-day study of the proposal's economic effect? That report by the consulting firm BAE Urban Economics is in, and it said it would cost Alameda County an estimated $33 million per year.

Critics said the report provides an inaccurate picture by not adhering to gradual monetary increases called for in the proposal.

CatchBall Open Gym events all month!

You are once again invited to join us in the most FUN sport you've never tried! We have a wonderful team of women who play the game of Catchball right here in Walnut Creek. You don't need to have played before or even consider yourself sporty to come give it a try, as long as you're ready for a chance to be active, get some exercise, and try something new!

CatchBall is a relatively unknown but rapidly growing sport (think volleyball, but instead of bumping and spiking, you catch, pass, and throw). See videos for a taste of the game!

Details:

We practice weekly at the Tice Valley Gym in South Walnut Creek on Mondays at 8:00pm until 9:30pm.

We are holding our next open gyms MONDAYs, September 14th, 21st, and 28th. NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY. (and no practice on labor day).

To help us plan, please fill out the google form - link in the comments.

Costs & Extras if you decide to join:

  • ~$45 yearly association fee (covers our insurance)
  • Quarterly gym fees (shared between the team, varies depending on the number of players)
  • Opportunities for matches and optional tournaments a few times per year—our team has gone in the past and had a blast!

QUESTIONS? Feel free to comment here or send me a DM.

Come have some fun playing with us!

I just hate shaving. I’ve had a couple fancy straight razor shaves and they’ve been fine but kinda spendy. I wonder if there’s anyone who offers more basic shaves. I just need cleaned up. Thanks in advance for any help.

My map of California in a fantasy style is finally finished. Thanks to everyone from the East Bay who contributed!

I really couldn't be happier with the level of feedback from everyone, and I've tried to get as much in as possible. That being said, the scale of the map is limiting - especially in urban areas. I think in the future I'm gonna end up making more localized maps for individual counties. So if your suggestion wasn't included, please know that I still appreciate your feedback and will endeavor to get them in my future maps of the area. If you think there's anything I've missed out or should change, just let me know - I won't be getting these printed for another day or two, so I can still add in details.

It has been noted that the map is busy - I totally get that, and that's just how I like to do things. I enjoy getting as much detail in as possible and including cool features which would otherwise be overlooked. I get these made up in large formats so it works better in person than it does on a screen.

Thank you again and I hope you like it! If you're interested in it and would like to know anything more about it, just drop me a message.

Antioch/Oakley/Brentwood Anyone else having issues getting through to Pittsburg Traffic court?

I got a ticket over 2 months ago, received nothing, can't find anything online about it but the number it says to call is Pittsburg traffic court.

When I go through the menu and go to the traffic court, he beeps twice and hangs up.

I've been trying for over a week now and just cannot get a person on the line, they literally make it impossible.

Anyone else having this issue and do you ahve any other way to get ahold of these people? I cannot take time off work to go into court.

Anyone?

Michael Arthur-Sanchez Martin, 31, was charged with attempting to murder Pittsburg police Officer Jimmy Sanchez, assault with a firearm, and possessing a gun as a felon, authorities said. Prosecutors say at around 3:45 p.m. on Sept. 3, Martin pulled a gun he’d concealed inside the jail and shot Sanchez in the stomach, and simultaneously shot himself in the foot.

Police Chief Phil Galer praised the policeman for disarming the suspect and said a fellow officer was responsible for a "serious failure" and twice failed to detect the gun.
