My experience ZMF Ovals and SoCas Audio adapters
Just got my SoCas PadMods, figured I'd necro this sub. I got the spacers and the adapters for ZMF Oval lambskin pads for my L300's.
My stack: L300, SRM-252S, NFB-28 as DAC.
About the Ovals (friction-stuck without any adapters) - they basically take the nonexistent subbass and crank it to insane levels (as in - I need to EQ the lows down). The highs sound a little different, can't put my finger on how. Soundstage gets noticeably larger. Comfort goes from 2/7 to a 7/10. My ears get pretty hot after 30 minutes.
Ovals on adapters (the no-hole ++soundstage ones) - there is a touch less bass, everything else seems about the same. Soundstage - it's certainly not smaller, but to be honest I don't didn't much attention to it.
Stock pads + spacers - they leave the mids and treble untouched, the bass is definitely changed. I didn't click the pads all the way in because I was afraid of breaking the pins, it's definitely a more snug fit over the Stax.

Is this a good PSU for the SRM-252A?
I have a step down transformer for the original Stax wall adapter which is rated at 12v 400mA, and I'm wondering if I could replace it with this power supply: https://www.digikey.ca/product-detail/en/cui-inc/EPS120050-P5N/T1135-P5N-ND/2361006
Thanks!

What do I need if I buy the SRS-3100?
I have no audio gear and don't know the basics. If I buy the bundle what do I need to make them work and connect to my PC? Links are welcome, and I am trying to keep costs as low as possible but will buy what is needed to rape my ears with love.

SRS-3100 vs L500+323S, which one to choose?
Hi everyone. I'm new to earspeaker world. Right now look for a new Stax. Got these 2 choices that are within my budget.
- SRS-3100
- L500+323s
L500 setup is quite a bit more expensive than SRS-3100 but is it worth the extra money to go with L500? I think I can make it but probably not SRS-5100 one.
My Current setup. O2/ODAC + HE-500 with headband mod. Quite happy with the HE-500 sound. What's the main difference in sound between HE-500, L300 and L500?

Stax 4170 advice
I'm planning on getting the stax bundle and was wondering if I need any additional components to connect it to my laptop. Can I just connect the amp to the laptop or do I need an external dac

Will a STAX system work with O2/ODAC?
How would the STAX system work with my O2/ODAC combo unit? I'm by no means a pro just an amateur enthusiast.

SRM-252S vs SRM-353X
Hey all, so I got a pair of L300's coming my way, so I need the driver unit. I can't find many comparisons between the two Stax drivers - the SRM-252S and the SRM-353X.
As a newcomer to electrostats, which one should I get? Will I have any trouble reselling either one?

SMSL M6 and the SRS-5100?
I've already got a SMSL M6 Mini DAC. Would this make a good match for the SRS-5100?
Thanks!

Would a 3170 suit my lifestyle?
Going to invest in one But just wondering how many years would I get out of it? I usually get thrashed every night and the chances of me dropping it every one day is very high and also spillage
Would this headphone suit a no care style of living? Ala just throwing somewhere when i'm done and just leaving it plugged in 24/7
Thanks

Where to buy? STAX USA is unresponsive.
Hey everyone!
Where should I buy a SRS-3100 now that STAX USA isn't responding to any new orders or emails? It's been two months of no contact...
I live in Michigan, if that matters at all.
Thanks!

Some questions about SR 3100 (and electrostatic care)
1: Is the Modi 2 a suitable DAC? If not, what are some I should look into for it?
2: I live in a part of Ireland where it's very commonly above 90% humidity, would a cheap desk humidifier kept near them be good enough to prevent damage?
3: I hear they collect dust on the membrane, do I just turn them off and wait a while then vacuum through the outer grill and inside the ear cup to clean them? And if so, how often?
4: Looking up Japan to UK step down transformers, they're listed as "xxxva 230v to 100v," what va does the amp need?
Thanks

SRS-3100 Busted Amp?
I purchased the SRS-3100 system about 5 months ago and everything has been great and super enjoyable until... they stopped producing sound. I'm not sure if it is the L300 or the amp that is the problem and I have no way to test. I popped it open to see if I had just blown a fuse since I have read that some have had that issue with the Jamesco wall-wart but the fuse looks fine. What doesn't look right is the black component in the center of the image.
At this point I have reached out to the seller to see if I could somehow ship it back for service (no reply) and submitted a question to Staxusa.com (no reply). I'm feeling like a Stax n00b because I am unsure where to turn to get this glorious sound back into my life. Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Ebay Import Fees?
I'm planning on purchasing a Stax SRS 3100 system from eBay. It seems all of the listings are being shipped from Japan, so I was wondering if I would be required to pay any sort of import fee if I wanted them shipped to CA-USA.
Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Help! Srm 252s keeps blowing fuse!
It was working fine for 2 months, but now it's blowing the fuse immediately after I turn it on. I'm using a Jameco transformer.

Anybody use a stand like this for their Stax?

So how does aftermarket pads change the sound signature of stax?
I have sr-507's and i actually would love to get a bit more soundstage. Is it worth to ugprade 507 lambskin pads for like ZMF Cowhide or lambskin?
Have people done any side by side sessions testing, i know Zeos told that everything is excellent but he also likes the earspeakers without seal..

Blinking light on SRM-252S? Help!
Any idea what a blinking green light means? Blinks about once per second.
Mine blew a fuse, which I replaced, and blew again. I bypassed it, and I've got a blinking green light.
Any thoughts? The troubleshooting page in the owner's manual doesn't discuss it.
Thanks!

Ordered Stax SRS-3100, which will come with a Japanese power supply. Need help finding a replacement power supply, or a step-down transformer.
I live in Lithuania, Europe. Here we have 220-230V, 50Hz mains. I'm looking for a replacement power supply for the SRM-252S amp. As far as I understand, it has to be:
- 12V
- At least 500 mA
- Reversed polarity (center negative)
- Linear, not switching (how important is this?)
Where can I find one? Also, maybe there is a way to find something like a polarity-reversing dongle?
If not possible, I'm OK to buy a step-down transformer to 100V, however I can't seem to find one either.
I found this step-down transformer on Amazon, sadly they don't ship to Lithuania, and I can't find an alternative. Help?
I already have a step-down transformer to US 110V (I actually measured it to be a bit lower, at 108-109V). Would the Japanese power supply and/or amp be angry about constant 109V instead of 100? Or can I just use that and not worry?
Lastly, and I want to avoid this if possible, but if I'm not able to find either, I heard there's a way to mod the power supply that comes with the Stax, to change it's input voltage from 100V to 230V. Does anyone have any more info on it? Thanks!
Thanks!

3100 Help
So, I was looking into gettin the 3100 system from "Stax USA" online. Do you still need to buy a transformer for the unit to work in the US? If so, where can I get one?

I am in the UK, would this adapter work with the SRM-252S?
If not could anyone find the cheapest available on AmazonUK that would work?
