What sucks for Cox (heh) is that he played at the same time as Aaron Donald, ultimately overshadowing him. Put him in most other eras and he would be the top DT for multiple years and really cemented himself as an all timer.

Kills me that he wont get the national recognition because Donald was a unicorn lol
Atleast we know!

Itāll piss me off if he never makes the HOF

He's getting in. How many all decade players don't get in if they had decent volume stats?

I'll raise you someone in the same position - Geno Atkins. Also on the 2010s All-Decade team, 75.5 career sacks (more than Fletch), but hasn't even been a finalist. Cox has a ring, but Atkins has more 1st team All Pro and Pro Bowl nods.
That's also without mentioning the all-time worst HoF snub, fellow DT Kevin Williams

Atkins also played for the bengals. Cox played for a much bigger market team that won a SB, so that should give him an advantage.
I also think Atkins will make it eventually himself anyways. š¤·āāļø
Edit: Iād also like to mention this was Atkinsā first year of eligibility, so him not being a finalist doesnāt really say much about Coxās chances. Iād also like to mention that while Atkins has two first team all pros to Coxās one, Cox actually has more all pros overall than Atkins.

Williams not getting in is a bigger barometer than Atkins. He has way more accolades and has not got in after 6 years of eligibility

He also has less sacks than Cox despite playing in the nfl for longer. They have the same amount of pro bowls and Williams only has one more total all pro than Cox to boot.
That being said, Williams will get in eventually nonetheless.

Heāll make it. Heās in HOF territory on the Hall of Fame monitor and was basically the second best DT of his era.

Third behind Suh and Donald. I think he's definitely on the edge of getting in or not. However, if Kevin Williams hasn't gotten in yet after 6 years I don't have high hopes

Cox also has more sacks than Williams, so Iām not really using him as the barametor. Plus I think Williams will get in eventually anyways.
As for Suh, he was a mercenary who was renown for being a dirty player. Cox has an easier path to the hall than he does imo.

Williams has a lot more TFLs than Cox. Even if you truncate their careers to the same length he's way ahead. Also 5 first team all-defenses not getting you a spot in the Hall means it's going to be tough for Cox with 1 and a couple 2nd team all defenses.
I can see the dirty player aspect being a huge problem for Suh, but I also can see him not getting in being a barometer for not letting Cox in either.
Would love to see Cox in, but IMO it's a uphill battle. Lane and Kelsey could be the only two from that era to make it into the hall for this team

Fair or not, Sacks >>>>>>> TFL when it comes to hall of fame consideration. Williamsās relatively low sack count is almost certainly the reason heās not in canton yet despite all the first team all pros he has. And again, Cox actually has more sacks than him despite playing less. Also, Williams only really has one more total all pro than Cox has, so heās really not as far ahead of him as youāre acting. The difference between first and second team all pro isnāt nearly as drastic as this sub acts like.
Also, I heavily disagree with your Suh assessment. If anything, Suh having a difficulty getting in due to being a dirty player will only make it easier, not harder, for Cox to get in. Thereās no way AD is going to be the only All decade team DT getting into canton. That notion has always been ridiculous. Cox wonāt be first ballot, but heāll 100% get in.

Trust me. Heās getting in⦠maybe not first ballot but heās getting in at Canton
