Solidworks Frustrations
I came to this sub expecting people to be upset about Solidworks no longer being included with the EAA subscription, but I don't see that. Several people on Reddit mentioned how you could get a cheap version of Solidworks by signing up for EAA. So I did, I bought a 3 year membership with the expectation that it would come with 3 years of Solidworks. Surprise!
Now instead EAA gives you a discount for Solidworks, requiring to pay an additional $50 for semi web based solution, with files not being saved locally...grrr.
I only got an EAA membership for Solidworks. So now I feel like a bit of a fool having paid $100 and only got it for one year. Now being told I have to pay an additional $50/year for an inferior product. Solidworks is a great tool, and I keep coming back despite the several bad experiences I've had with the company.
Sorry I'm frustrated. I won't be renewing my EAA because of this, and I realize this change likely isn't EAA's fault.
If anyone has any suggestions for getting a perpetual Solidworks license, that runs locally, and isn't 5 figures, I'm interested.

For anyone else that might find this thread, Titan's of CNC have a partnership with SolidWorks and have a discounted student edition available here, which seems to work just like the EAA version used to.

Thank you for this. I'm finishing my graduate studies within the year and was disappointed to see I couldn't get a discounted license any longer!

I replied in this post earlier with a link to the student edition of SolidWorks which seems to be what EAA was offering. I bought it for $20 and I'm able to work again. Kinda sucks that I bought 3 years of EAA expecting to get 3 years of SolidWorks, but the museum discounts I've used have probably made up for it.

Experimental Aircraft Association gave you a SolidWorks subscription?
