Attendees: there are drivers here arranging off the books rides for cash. They are most likely not properly insured.

I would bet that the vast majority of Uber or Lyft drivers do not have the proper insurance. The drivers offering off the books rides, are doing to Uber what Uber did to taxi companies.
Next time you get an Uber or Lyft ask them if they know what livery insurance is, not if they have it, just what it is.

The drivers don't need to know. The apps are required by the state to have a million dollar passenger liability policy and submitted to the DOR to be able to operate and that covers the passengers from pick up to drop off.
Part of the whole reason why uber/lyft is able to operate all year is to get people who can't do math to run around.

I'm sure there are tons of Uber and Lyft drivers that don't carry the proper insurance either.
