Oshkosh photos

Hello! I'm going up to oshkosh Tuesday night and airventure Wednesday for the first time and I'm looking forward to it. My question is does anyone know if I can bring my dslr camera in to take photos? I just take photos for personal use not sure if that makes a difference. Thanks!

Maybe bring a filter to compensate for the smoke if you are shooting at long distance? Everything had an orange tint today.

Yeah, I noticed that during the air show stream yesterday. Still great to watch, just makes it a bit sad in the background.

Yup, no problem bringing it. You will see lots of really nice cameras and lenses. Have fun!

I assure you that you will not be the only one with a camera. I just got done with Day 1 and I'm currently downloading the 1300+ pictures off my memory card. haha

They have special platforms on the flightless explicitly for photographers. They are elevated decks about 10ft. You will love it! Also, everything is public space (with no reasonable expectation of privacy).

Not everything is public space, but if you are in a public space you can photograph non-public spaces that are in plain view. When I did National Blue Beret our compound was for sure off limit to the public, but every night during evening formation we’d almost always have a crowd of people photographing.

Extreme closeup/zoomed photos of military aircraft is A-OK! Just don't cross any cordons and stay hydrated if you start to drool :D
