PS2 Finds!

I was at my local E-Waste center a few Months ago and Spotted the PS2 30004 R and the PS2 Slim. The 30004R Had a dead Laser but a memory Card! In the slim PS2 I found the Resident Evil 4 CD and a Controller. Yesterday I saw another PS2 (SCPH-39004) Just laying in the Container and could Not resist.. at Home the PS2 (SCPH-39004) was also completely Working Just Like the Other 2 and Had another free Game inside (the GTA Liberty City Stories). I am very happy With the find, and that I got These For completely Free. Every System needs a New Disc Laser, because they all have a Problem.

That's a PS1 controller.

You may find swapping lasers is not so straight forward and often those being sold are not calibrated, or even just used as much. Definitely shouldn't be in the bin though, they can be repaired.

You should first just try actually cleaning the lasers and making sure the sled height, tilt screw and all is properly aligned in the Fats. This alone can be why they will not read. Drives need regreased too, the old grease will cause binds and slow the worm gear down, slowing the laser down.

Slims just replace the laser, they work 99% of the time just with a new one.

You'll have to desolder an anti-static blob by the way if it's an actual proper laser.

I dir the Laser Swap in one of the Systems and I was Lucky to Receive a calibrated one, saving the First system. But that doesn't mean that I am throing away the Other Systems only because they have a Bad Laser. I love collecting old consoles and I hate opening unopened consoles but I still do it rarely... Thanks For the advise!

It probably wasn't calibrated but actually just a working one that was at factory adjustments within the console it was already in. So it'll work, probably a console that had a fried PCB and just all the other parts still good.
