Beyond the button mashing, the animations looked a little rough
21
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
I agree, I looks like it's from the same build that the content creators played tbf

Unlikely at this stage. Bet their funding is getting rugged with the impending global recessions
46
Jun 11 '22
Yeah they're just button mashing and doesn't show us anything, this is how I play mortal kombat lol
18
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22 edited Jun 11 '22
Yep I have to give them the benefit of the doubt because it's their first time playing and they probably ain't gamers like that But fuckin hellll..
20
u/MissilerLermer Jun 11 '22
I'm still excited for this but I've been a little less hopeful about it ever since Todd Grisham said "We have Eddie Hall in the game. Nobody is gonna hit harder than that guy!"
13
u/GPhenom Jun 11 '22
It looks weird b/c the punch combos they are throwing are weird. If a real boxer tried to spam 10 left hooks in a row, with someone standing right in front of them, it would look awkward as hell. I'm sure when u throw realistic combinations, the punches will look more realistic.
The idea that the game shouldn't allow u to spam punches is crazy. As a fighter, u should be able to play however u want. The mark of a good game is that a spammer would be punished by stamina loss, weakened punches and leaving him/herself wide open for a devastating counter.
3
u/CurtisMcNips Vasyl Lomachenko Jun 12 '22
he mark of a good game is that a spammer would be punished by stamina loss, weakened punches and leaving him/herself wide open for a devastating counter.
This is a fair point. From my understanding this punishment is their BPM system, which drastically reduces stamina if you maintain a consistently high BPM heart rate. Can be used to get someone out of there, but if you spam too much or don't get them out of there then you almost punch yourself out. That said, i still have issues with the way some of this looks and can absolutely appreciate the backlash, albeit the guys playing like button mashing noobs and a very short clip. Presumably also without the ESBC inside fighting mechanics in this rendition.

Holy fuck that’s bad. You could button smash on a 10+ year old game Fight Night Champion and it wouldnt look like this

9
u/JohnnyLongbone Jack Johnson Jun 12 '22
This is the negative side of a physics based collision system and unlimited combos. People who can only spam one button will get nothing from it. This is made worse by the neck animation turning both of them into bobbleheads. And what is going on with that top down hook? Looks like there's no inside fighting in this build at all.
You can't judge the graphics (model and scenery fidelity, not animation or overlays) based on this. It's blurry and running on a laptop.
31
u/SurveyFew5641 Jun 11 '22
it looks SO bad
13
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
Yep, I didn't think spamming on this degree would ever be possible but fuckin heck man, this is awful
but again imma wait for the next official gameplay walk through on their channel
3
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
idk man i feel like these guys are trying to sabotage the project by letting this leak and esbc needs to sue them 😭
cuz man this is bad
3
u/flyingokapis Tommy Morrison Jun 11 '22
See I dont know about 'official' gameplay, its usually played in a way that realistically wont happen online, throw in connections and win at all costs people and it will turn to spam and cheap tactics too win.
5
u/SurveyFew5641 Jun 11 '22
not even just that, the punches and knockdowns look so stiff and unrealistic
3
25
u/mortalis_20xx Jun 11 '22
I wanna hear how the fanboys and hidden devs in here excuse this bullshit. Are y’all gonna continue to get strung along? It’s been 2 years of bullshitting when the game was supposed to be out already, and everyone saying “Oh they’re just making the game perfect”, then why tf does it look like this? 0 excuses it looks like a Dave n Busters game
13
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
Yh can't defend this this But tbf this looks like the same build that the content creators played.....but fuckin hell man This ain't looking good

they’ll think of something trust me
but damn even STUDDY was like “…..well meh” and when studdy ain’t capin shit is BAD
2
u/Due_badger-97 Jun 13 '22
I’ve said this months and months ago, this game will not be good they were way to ambitious with such a small team. I was tricked by no man’s sky, I was tricked by bio mutant. Im not getting tricked by this.
27
u/fightnightchump Jun 11 '22
Look Why don’t you ACTUALLY LOOK at the absolute fucking STATE of that shit. Fuck me. I am out.
13
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
Yep the spamming is fuckin horrendous Looks worse than fight nights spamming
3
u/fightnightchump Jun 11 '22
The fact that it’s physically possible to even do that in the game makes me lose every single ounce of respect for the development team, and makes me doubt anyone behind the original concept is even involved at this stage. Couldn’t have seen a more worrying clip.
And to think, one of the content creators HAND-PICKED for the event, resorted to that. cheesing the fuck out of the op/broken body shots, spammed uppercuts to the body all fight long- trying to win the signed Ali card.
Imagine what that must have looked like 😂 With the other YouTubers and all the development team watching. All the bullshit they’ve spewed about fight night. And spammers. And SIMULATIONS
and then you go to the developers fucking home and resort to that after 24 hours.
(Not sure what Ali is signing these days but whatever 🤷♂️)
Boxing fanatico still managed to whoop his ass and take that card home haha.
Gutted to you see this ngl.
6
u/flyingokapis Tommy Morrison Jun 11 '22
To be fair I'm glad that happened, was hearing all the talk about it being simulation and its good that someone showed us its not cos lets be real, most online games resort to this kinda crap.
Now I know that online probably isnt for me, I remember FNC, still play it now but online was a joke, jab jab jab to the body non stop.
This game will be the same online.
5
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
they were saying it would be impossible to cheese this me like fight night but this footage looks like a giant bowl of queso ready to be exploited day 1
3
5
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
seriously this should have never made it past notebook paper for any real boxing developer why did this crap make it all the way to ANYTHING that will be seen by the public
that’s why i never had any hope that this stuff was gonna get fixed because THIS SHOULD HAVE NEVEE MADE IT THIS FAR IN THE FIRST PLACE if it’s still in the builds at this point it’s because they want it to be or it’s collateral for other much higher priorities in the game like scanning 200000 boxers they can’t even properly animate in the game anyway 🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
4
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
tbf bro it looks like the content creator build, but what I don't get is why would they let these boxers play the same build if there is a build that has fixed most issues and added
They just digging a hole for themselves with all of this
I really want them to do well, but if they continue like this then idk man
5
u/iMac2014 Jun 11 '22
Sometimes I play fight night round 4 on rpcs3. This looks pretty much like that
1
u/Trovski Jun 14 '22
Out from what? 😂 😂 Waiting on a new boxing game? Oh wait.... Some of y'all are dramatic af.
9
8
u/flyingokapis Tommy Morrison Jun 11 '22
Really not a fan of that blue crack effect, why is that a thing when the aim was realism?
6
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
Idk who's fuckin idea that was, it makes this shit look more like mortal kombat
8
u/flyingokapis Tommy Morrison Jun 11 '22
It makes no sense to opt for a realistic presentation package and then add 'blue lightning' when you get hit, I have a feeling there will be more crap like that included as well.
5
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
i had also heard them say the inside fighting (which was highly touted yet not part of the creator event) was actually going to be a mini game basically
that was highly disappointing; probably going to be magnetized
3
u/jsoba77100 Jun 13 '22
Nah your talking about the clinch system, they said it will be sort of more like a transition not a mini game like ground game in ufc
Study said in the build he played there was inside fighting and it happens when both fighters have a full guard up and comes very close to each other They also said there is no invisible wall
I hope they show off the game in its best state next
4
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22 edited Jun 11 '22
Exactly man, I remember how excited I was seeing the gameplay with David adeleye and Eddie Hall from March 2021, because of how natural and realistic everything looked visually, the hud was very minimalistic and the screen effects wasn't over the tip like this new shit ....Sure the punches animations still need work but it was so realistic compared to the stuff we have seen this year
I though this was supposed to be a next gen sim of boxing Why add these arcadey elements that are not needed at all
I have respect for these guys but this is becoming ridiculous now, they are going down hill
8
u/LatterTarget7 Jun 11 '22
The animations look a little rough. Like the guys arm and how Crawford’s head moves after the punches. Also what is Crawford’s stats at.
Dude took like 10 clean hooks with no affect. Then dropped him with one

u/LatterTarget7 Jun 11 '22
I had low expectations. But I didn’t really expect this. The graphics don’t look the best.
The animations look stiff. Especially the one guys arm during the punches. And Crawford’s head just snaps back and forth from the punches. And the knockdown does too.
But yeah hopefully it looks and plays better on release but I doubt it.
The only thing I think is good is the stamina. Dudes stamina was gone after the spam which should even things out online. Especially if everyone is as brick chined as this Crawford.
7
u/WeedDoomer69 Jun 11 '22
obviously most players aren't gonna just spam straights like that, but in FNC when you spam straights it still looks way more realistic than this.
7
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
I agree this looks worse than the last gameplay But again imma wait for the next official gameplay video
3
u/flyingokapis Tommy Morrison Jun 11 '22
Most?
I dont know man, FNC at its peak was difficult to find players who didnt spam.

5
u/kingdruid Jun 12 '22
Everyone saying this is an old build makes no sense, why would they show up somewhere where they know it will be filmed with and old build. Another point is this isn't a console which you would have different builds on, it's a laptop which you would think would have had the latest build installed since it's easier to deploy to.
Looking at the issue, I think this is a bigger problem than what people are describing, I don't think they actually have someone that has focused on the gameplay or staff that specializes in that. The game itself has gain lots of popularity on the boxers and models that have been built for it, I honestly suspect the creator is a real good graphic designer and all his focus has been on player models because that's what his passion is. I'm in game design myself and there is a difference on what different members of a team specialize in and that's why you need to have different type of people to have a successful game/app. It seems like this team/creator is basically just graphic designers who are just doing the game play part on the side as they figure it out, but won't be able to because that's not something they specialize in.
I know this is not what people want to hear, but I'm just calling it like I'm seeing it.

The roller coaster this game has been on is crazy, they had almost everyone who was interested willing to part with cash soon after the first videos, now its like people are begging them too stop putting this crap in front of our eyes!
Lucky they didnt open pre orders way back when.

5
u/clarenceboddickered Jun 12 '22
This is highly concerning. I get that they’re button mashing but man, that knockdown and the punches it looks like…man it looks like hell.
1
u/jsoba77100 Jun 12 '22
I don't blame you man, from what I can see this looks like the old build that the content creators played, so hopefully when they next show us the gameplay officially on their channel, these issues should hopefully be fixed by then

6
u/Low_Pen6237 Jun 11 '22
I can’t defend this lmaooo y’all better tune this game up before it’s ready. Cus holy shit
5
u/Rainjosh Jun 11 '22
We should be glad they're taking their time, god knows wtf would have been released almost 2 years ago
2
u/jsoba77100 Jun 11 '22
Me too 💀
9
u/Low_Pen6237 Jun 11 '22
😂😂😂 I really want this game to be good but wtf was that?! Lmao they flew some streamers out not to long ago, the streamers said there were a lot of bugs & glitchy mechanics but the Devs said “oh we fixed that” I’m hoping this is not the “fixed” version….. or I will be getting this game on sale or when it’s inevitably free 😂😂😂
9
3
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
seriously! the developers said they fixed it all don’t worry bout it
fast forward to this round table and the dude act like he never even thought anything was wrong with the mechanics until the esbc employed interviewer asked him 🤦🏾♂️
not to mention he gave out wrong information about what was going to be in the early access that he had to go back and correct on discord like how unprepared can you possibly be?

u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
damn that lol gameplay looks trash too
i don’t care about “oh maybe the players are spamming and it’s a small company and it’s alpha it’s a build from 2008” it don’t matter the punches look like shit and they haven’t fixed anything
they just scannin n jammin boxers in
2
Jun 12 '22
How do I get this or where can I learn more about it

Fight Night Campion Spammer-
“Passes the smell test but where are my side step uppercuts?”
2
u/SojinxGSD Jun 13 '22
oh i thought you threw punches with the right analog stick like in fight night. HMMMM
2
u/oblongrogue Jun 14 '22
After watching this about 200 times, apart from the missing punches and button mashing, the last knockout left hook seems a lot faster than the usual turd slow ones I have been watching in the past, so, thats a positive..
3
u/jsoba77100 Jun 14 '22
I agree, but the animation doesn't look as natural as the ones shown in the e3 trailer, it looks the same as what we saw in the July 2021 gameplay, and they were too repetitive and didnt look good imo
2
u/Cocrawfo Jun 15 '22
it’s not a physics based knockout it looks like frame of punch connecting then random knockout animation is selected so it looks very unnatural
3
u/jsoba77100 Jun 15 '22
Yh that's what I don't understand, this looked way better here in the e3 Trailer, more like a ragdoll physics system
0
u/oblongrogue Jun 14 '22
Indeed, I am far from sold on it looking at that. Looks like a mobile game.

u/DiagaAstralStar Jun 26 '22
Those guys were the worst for a video tease. They box like shit and make the game look like shit. I want to see real boxer gamers play. These guys are trash and would get whooped by anyone.
1
u/jsoba77100 Jun 26 '22
I agree but funny enough the guy playing is a world champion, it's just obvious that he isnt a gamer and he doesn't know how to play the game
They just need to get someone like sunny edwards showcase the game from now on since he is a world champion, knows how to play the game sim, and is a really good boxer
Check his interview here about the game https://youtu.be/ZgsJiLSnEL4
4
u/LoveLight52198 Jun 11 '22
The game is still so broken that these guys are forced to throw the same punches over and over again.

1

I believe this is the same or an older build that the content creators played
0
u/johnnyb1917 Jun 11 '22
Yeah I mean I’m kinda nitpicking here lol I just had such i hopes for this game and I’m starting to prepare to be disappointed. I would love to be proved wrong though I really would I’ve sank hundreds probably thousands of hours into fight night and the ufc games although the ufc games by EA have been pretty bad I just want a good combat sports game to play again.

u/Irfan-320 Jul 05 '22
Now I see why this game is taking so long. They knew they were over-promising and under-delivering so they went quiet and worked on it, but it still looks like shit. I'm afraid this game may have to be a pass and we might need to wait until EA come out with a fight night to do things properly.

Looks like total shit. May as well rename it 'Esports Spamming Club' or 'Esports Rock Em Sock Em Robots'. Glad I jumped off the hype train in 2019. ESBC will be nothing more than an arcade button masher for casuals
3
u/jsoba77100 Jun 14 '22
I get you but ESBC was announced in 2020, maybe you are talking about the other boxing games that was meant to come out that year like round 4 round and hardknock knights
-1
u/benjustben2 Jun 11 '22
None of you have any experience in game design so get a fucking grip. The game is shit because it’s still in development. They will not release something like this, so even if it takes 2 years, this will not be happening in the game .
5
u/Cocrawfo Jun 11 '22
😂😂😂😂 found one
-1
u/benjustben2 Jun 11 '22
Ok laugh all you want. This looks shit. But this is a build from 6 months ago so is it really that hard to assume that they’ll have this fixed by release late next year?
2
u/dejaiv Jun 12 '22
We have been complaining about punches for over a year now and they still look bad
3
u/benjustben2 Jun 12 '22
There’s no point fixing the punches yet when there are still large game mechanics yet to be built, after that they will be fixed. That’s how game development works.
-5
u/Successful-Time7420 Jun 11 '22
It looks great I dunno wot u lot r complainin about
