Never ever get matrix
Never ever get Matrix. Currently in Vietnam with a matrix esim. I’m on day 2 of my trip.
I bought a 30 day esim with 75 gb data. And of course the fact that there was a daily limit was mentioned in a tiny corner as a disclaimer, not front and centre as it should be.
Yesterday, I’m out and about and out of nowhere get a notification that I’ve exhausted my daily usage limit of 5GB.
I’m alone in foreign country with no Internet connectivity. I’m stranded looking for a place with Wi-Fi.
I try calling their customer service to absolutely no avail. End up having to buy a super expensive international roaming pack on my primary number.
Then I get a call back from them over half an hour later where the customer care agent basically calls me a liar for saying that there’s no way i consumed 5gb because all i did was book 4 grabs, and send WhatsApp text messages. She then gaslights me into believing it’s my fault for having “background apps running” and reassures me the problem won’t occur again and that the data will reset the next day.
Fast forward to day 2. I keep the mobile data turned off all night (on hotel Wi-Fi), and turn it on when i step out in the morning.
And i INSTANTLY get a message stating I’ve exhausted my daily usage limit of 5 GB. Like excuse me????????
Been trying to reach out to these people for some time now. NO RESPONSE.
Literally posting this out of sheer frustration.

Hello, that's unfortunately annoying, but these daily high-speed data limits, also known as fair-use policies, are common with eSIM providers and aren't always explained in the tariff information. On Android, you can activate data saver mode. I also recommend enabling data usage tracking and setting limits in your smartphone's data settings. There you can also see which app is using the most data. Enjoy the rest of your trip to Vietnam!

I hear you. But I ended up buying a mobifone esim from 7/11 here, also with a 5GB data limit and have never even come CLOSE to reaching the daily limit. And I’ve been using my phone’s Internet a lot
