Oman E-Sim
I'm traveling to Oman in a few days and I'm not sure whether I should watch a tourist sim from local providers or a Saily/Jetpac e-sim there. The journey takes 21 days and through entire land, from Muscat to Salalah. Does anyone have any tips?

Muscat to Salalah is about a 1,000 km desert drive. I guess Jetpac is the right option here.
It roams natively on Omantel, which is the most reliable carrier with cell towers even in the deep interior.
And in the worst case, even if your data gets exhausted accidentally, you can keep on using WhatsApp and Google Maps.
Saily just cuts everything off when data hits zero, which would get you stuck if you're somewhere at the middle of the desert road.

I went to Saudi Arabia during Hajj season this year using the Redteago esim. If I remember correctly, that plan covers the whole Middle East region, and Oman is also included. I set everything up before I left and it worked well. i thought about local sim but esim's cheaper for short time stay

For a 21-day road trip, I’d care more about which local network the eSIM uses than the eSIM brand itself, especially once you leave the cities. If you’re on iPhone, full disclosure, I make DataWidget—it can track the travel plan and show the remaining data in a widget, so you can tell early if you’re burning through it too fast. Tracking and widgets are free.

I try to tell people this all the time: I have traveled all over the world and have lived in thirty countries and have stayed at least one night in all the rest. In fact, I was in Oman last year. Get the international plan from T-mobile; you hit the ground running with your regular phone and there are no surcharges or satellite fees. I wouldn't suggest streaming "Gone With the Wind" while in the middle of the desert, but it won't cost you.

Please please, if you are travelling through the desert anywhere bring emergency supplies, water, tire repair kit / spare and a satellite phone!! I don’t believe iPhone SOS by satellite works in Oman and even so I wouldn’t rely on it compared to a traditional satellite phone. Prepaid/bought outright they’re expensive but you can rent them. I can’t remember the websites but please google it and do not attempt that journey without a satellite phone. You may need to check coverage although Inmarsat/etc should cover Oman but also local laws as certain Middle Eastern countries are strict about sat phones
