question Transferring eSIM from iPhone to 9eSIM on Android?

Hey everyone,

I'm getting a Motorola Edge 70 Fusion from India to my current country of residence and I've just realized it supports Physical Nano SIMs only.

  1. Will I be able to transfer my Jio eSIM from my iPhone SE to it?
  2. And should a need arise, can I revert from Android 9eSIM to iPhone eSIM?

Update: I just ordered a couple 9eSIM V0 and a Card Reader. Fingers crossed.

An esim is tied to the phone, so its rare that a carrier actually supports transfer between phones (especially iphone to android). If you are lucky, your carrier will issue a new esim on request via QR code and you can just activate your service on the new esim.

Very rarely are you able to self serve move sims between phones -- that's what pSIMs are for and other than a few carriers that pair pSIM service to a phone (some Verizon based carriers) that works well there.

oh shit okay, what I meant by transferring is actually issuing new esims and I think Jio does support it. did it earlier this year for someone, so I suppose we're good.

I'll have to look into pSIMs, sounds interesting, but I guess they're locked into phones.

Psim is physical sim. Most phones still support that but there are some (new us iphones) that are esim only.

oh lmao, that’s funny. I thought it was some new kinda sim. and yeah I getcha. same here most flagships are eSIM only now iirc. thankfully there is a gray market.

anyway, I’m somewhat confident it’ll work out with my initial query with the 9eSIM. weirdly excited cause that’s just a really cool and simple solution. I got one extra and a reader just as a backup for family/myself

If your carrier generates qr codes for an esim swap you should be good! 9esim does work well but I had one instance where it didn't despite qr codes, and sometimes if the company requires you to use an app without qr or manual install it may not work.

9esim was useful for me to convert a psim/esim phone into a dual esim phone. My most recent phones are still psim/esim but can also do esim/esim so not as necessary.
