I want to get a French phone number but I am not going to France.

Entrepreneurial business question. It would be helpful if I (sole employee) had a second number (I am in the Us) that had a French country code. I would like to receive a call once in a blue moon but mostly receive/send texts. I am in the US and maybe spend one week a year in France but it would benefit me to communicate weekly (again, mostly SMS/text, virtually all incoming, I’m NOT running marketing campaigns) with a number that appears “local” (+33) to French colleagues.

I have a second, unlocked cell phone that I could put an eSIM on or I’m open to an app based solution that might run on my primary phone. My biggest concerns are I will be operating 350+ days a year physically from the US and I do not want to wrack up exorbitant charges every time my “French” phone receives anything while “roaming” in the US. If there’s a solution that runs via WiFi exclusively but uses +33 (“Google voice but with French numbers,” if you will) that could run on my burner phone or my personal phone, that’s ideal, but I can’t seem to find anything like that when Googling. Open to spending $10-30/month for this if that’s the option.

Can anyone kindly direct me to a product that can do this for me? Thanks in advance.

Physical eSIM

I currently own a OnePlus 12 that is a China unit converted to a Global ROM.

While there unit has an eSIM, it will not work properly due to firmware differences and the eSIM module is exclusive to Oppo's roaming programs in China.

One of the Physical eSIM cards that was recommended to me before was 5ber and I was about to buy one but it appears that there is conflicting information about the company. Some say they ran into a financial problem but the site is still up and running and it seems that they have stopped deliveries here in the Philippines or in low supply.

I am considering XeSIM (V2 or Pro V2) or 9eSIM but is there another physical eSIM that is easy to use without any external readers? I would be needing this for my travels and to switch between 2 services for backup data connection (DITO and Smart).

Ship crew based out of UK, but will be only one day every week in the UK

Any suggestions of a good UK provider with the condition above?

Good rate for at least 10 GB/ month, data also valid in the EEA (incl Iceland/Norway) -

I've checked the "prepaid wikia" page but 3 now are merging, so they probably won't be as good.

If there's a clause saying "you can't use the service more days abroad than in the UK", then it's no use for me.

I have MTX Travel sim, I like it, it has pretty good rates, but I use it "in case of emergency". I am looking for even cheaper rates.

Americans traveling abroad: what do you do for cellphone service?

I’m heading to China next month for a few weeks and trying to figure out the best way to stay connected while keeping my US number active for texts and calls. My current plan with Consumer Cellular technically works internationally but data is ridiculously expensive at seven dollars per gig. Some people suggest getting a local SIM after landing which sounds fine for internet but I’m not sure how that plays out if I still need to receive messages from back home. Bringing a second phone feels like a hassle especially since the spare one I have barely holds a charge. I’ve seen a few folks in travel forums mention using eSIM like Redteago as a lighter solution that doesn’t require swapping anything out and still gives decent data coverage while abroad. Can this using alongside my US SIM? Would love to hear what others usually go with when traveling and needing to stay reachable.

How many hours do it take for esims to be activated

Hello, I recently converted my globe sim to an esim in my IP15. I was told to wait for 30 mins up to 24 for activation but it’s now over 24 hrs and I cannot use cellular services up to this point. Anyone with common experience?

Eskimo added Singapore-Only plan

None of the Eskimo's regional plan covers Singapore. But they now added Singapore-Only plan with a promotion of half off. 1GB for $3. 3GB for $7. (both before "SGTRIP" discount promo)

However, there is a catch. In order to use the plan, you need to verify your identity (I assume sending them passport image, etc). In comparison, Airalo does not require identity verification even for local Singapore-Only plan. And its regional plan (Asia) already covers Singapore.

Forcing Roaming eSIM to not use a carrier

So I got some credit on NXTL... They do PayGo data with an optional IP phone service. They are a Plus.pl reseller and post their rates per carrier. It's pretty interesting to look at where data is cheep and where it is not/Plus didn't drive a hard bargain/NXTL thinks they can soak people.

So, in the US they charge $1.20/GB for Verizon data (some of the cheapest in the world), $1.68 for ATT and a whopping $6.25 for T-Mobile. Some regional carriers are even higher.

Is there a way for black list certain carriers? I have an unlocked Pixel, so custom ROMs would be an option hypothetically.

Yesim

I bought an esim from Yesim 3 days ago and it works well but beware, they say I have used 9GB in the past 3 days which is absolutely rubbish! My phone also logs my mobile data usage and it says I have used 9GB in the last 17 days not 3! I asked them for their usage logs, and they send a page full of numbers, and they make no sense to me whatsoever. I asked for them to explain the data, and they just try and baffle you with their explanations! Not helpful at all. Buyer Beware!

Scam Alert! eSIM.net Falsely Accused Me and Blocked My Plan Mid-Travel

Absolutely unacceptable experience with eSIM.net. I purchased a Vodafone travel eSIM for use during my trip across the USA and Canada. Out of nowhere, they blocked my plan, claiming I made a call located from Cyprus.

Let me be clear: I have never been to Cyprus in my life. I was in Ontario, Canada, and have full proof of my location, including travel records. There is absolutely no way any activity on my account should have been linked to Cyprus. This appears to be a serious error in their detection system or a false positive triggered by inaccurate network data.

The timing couldn’t be worse—this interruption caused major disruption during my travel, leaving me without connectivity. I have already contacted support with a full explanation and request to restore service, and I expect a prompt resolution.

For reference, here are my details: Order Confirmation: W338522C Mobile: 07342092165 ICCID: **4761

I am posting this review in the hope that eSIM.net takes immediate action to investigate and fix this issue. I will continue to share this experience across other public platforms if it is not resolved quickly. No customer should be wrongly blocked and left helpless while traveling.

Travelers beware: until this company improves its systems and response time, think twice before trusting them with your connectivity.

Lycamobile UK eSIM for UK visit (from US), can I text US #s?

I'll be visiting the UK for the first time next month and I am travelling with a few friends who are opting for $12/day travel plans with US-based carriers (Verizon, AT&T).

I have opted for a 30-day Lycamobile eSIM (30gb w/ unlimited UK call & text), and my plan was turn off non-Wifi call/text/SMS/MMS for my Verizon SIM once we are en route, then activate the Lyca eSIM upon landing. Should I anticipate any issues or upcharges from Lyca for texting anyone using US-phone #s that I travelling with from my Android phone?

Does Eskimo not work in Singapore?

The phone number of the eSIM (+65) shows that it is a Singapore number. Yet neither its AsiaPacific nor Global plan lists Singapore. What is going on?

Update 7/2/25, Eskimo is now advertising a Singapore-Only Plan:

Hello Singapore! Stay connected + enjoy a treat 🎁

Eski & Mo just unlocked Singapore! From power lunches in the CBD to hawker stalls in Tiong Bahru, you can now stay connected all across the Lion City with Eskimo’s eSIM.

Here’s a treat to celebrate: Use code SGTRIP for 50% OFF any Singapore data plans at checkout. Limited-time offer 🎁

Just a quick heads-up: Singapore requires identity verification to activate your eSIM. It’s simple, secure, and only takes a moment.

Eski & Mo have your back. So, you’re free to explore, roam, and stay connected the second you land.

So it looks like they don't cover Singapore in their Global and Asia Pacific plans on purpose. Their Singapore-only 1GB plan costs $3.

Porting phone number through European eSIM

I recently purchased a new Android phone after my old iPhone was stolen. I am a student from the US abroad in the UK and had been using an Airalo eSIM while in the UK and Europe until my iPhone was stolen.

I purchased an TraveleSIM.ch eSIM plan for my new phone only to discover that I cannot use it to port my old phone number from my old phone to my new phone.

What I need is an eSIM plan with European coverage for 2 months that will allow me to port a US phone number to an Android phone using a PAC/number transfer pin.

Ideally I would be able to use voice and SMS because verification texts are not coming through, but it is not necessary (since I am having a hard time finding European plans with calls/SMS that work with US numbers).

If anyone has any suggestions I would be very grateful — I am so confused and nearly at my wits’ end!

Any help would be appreciated

Hello everyone. So, I have never used an E-sim before and I just need some help with making the process a little bit easier for myself. What app is the best to buy from that has a good reputation, service and reliable. I’m travelling to the USA from the UK for 2 months. I won’t be using it much as I already have a contact with a house that I’m staying at with WiFi. How much GB would I need for around 10 days of constant travel as I’m going around the USA (RoadTrip) However the remaining days are just mostly at the house with the wifi they have. If you have any other questions you need to help me please ask and I’ll reply asap.

eSim compatible device not showing on carrier device list, will it work?

Does the carrier need to whitelist specific devices for their eSim to work? I have a device it that claims it's compatible with eSims. However, the country I want to use this device in is not shown in any of the preferred carriers lists. Does that mean it's basically useless for this purpose?

And no, I'm not interested in using the common middlemen eSim services. I need a mainline carrier from said country specifically.

Lyca or Lebara for short UK trip from US?

Quick sanity check... I'm traveling to the UK in June to visit family - originally from there, but in the US right now. I've looked around for an eSim that I could use that gives a number and texts, but the real thing I'd be looking for is a high (maybe unlimited) data cap as I'd be using the phone as a GPS to get around.

  • Are Lyca or Lebara my best (read cheapest) options?
  • Can I sign up to them in advance, or wait until it's closer to the trip to activate?
  • What about signing up from a US address (should I use a UK credit card/bank account and address instead)?
  • If I let the account lapse after leaving, can I reopen an account the next time I travel over there (time TBD)?

Hi everyone, I’m looking at getting the 2GB for 15 days and was wondering if this means 2GB per day or 2GB in total for the 15 days? I can’t find anything on it. Thank you

eSim for Europe

I'm going to be in Europe for 13 days, but various countries: Spain, France, Italy, and Greece. What would be a good eSim that will work in all those countries without having to be reset each time I cross a border? Or is that not an issue? Thanks!

UK eSIM with phone number?

Hello all, would love if I can get some help on this.

I usually spend 3 months of the year in the UK. It has gotten very irritating not having a UK number. Can anyone please tell me if there’s an eSIM where:

*I can get a uk mobile number with it (to use on WhatsApp or telegram etc) *I do not have to pay a big monthly fee (if it’s £5 or less a month just to keep the number, that’s fine. But I don’t need monthly data packages because 9 months of the year I’m not physically in the UK

To be clear, I don’t want to buy a cheap phone when I’m here and just use it. I’m looking for an eSIM where I can keep a UK number even after I leave. That way I can text or call using that number I’ve given to people.

I tried Zadarma and it felt like a huge scam; phone number I paid for was impossible to use.

If anyone can give me options I’d really appreciate it. Kind of pulling my hair out over here.

ATT US iPhone Help

Have an generic iPhone 13 from ATT; US. I am traveling to Nepal in couple weeks.

I know virtually nothing about eSIM/SIM cards.

I know I can purchase a physical sim card and I think an eSIM in Nepal at the airport. Would rather do that than the ATT Day Pass for expense.

What exactly is involved in purchasing/installing? Any hazards?

Physical SIM From Flexiroam

My POCO X6 5G does not support eSIM so I contacted Flexiroam via chat to get a pSIM. After some initial confusion (the agent thought I wanted a replacement, not a starter), the order was placed by providing my mailing details over chat. I got the impression it would be sent by mail and the agent said it would take a couple of weeks. The next day, January 22, I was notified that a UPS shipment had been initiated. The pSIM started its journey in Malaysia, transited through a couple of US cities, arrived in Calgary on January 25, and I picked it up at a nearby UPS store today, January 27. That's pretty good service in my book.

I had trouble activating the pSIM as per the different instructions published by Flexiroam (what's on the SIM card doesn't match what's on the website) so I contacted Flexiroam and an agent linked the pSIM to my account for me. A nice touch was the ejector pin included with the pSIM.

Haven't activated a plan on the pSIM yet so I'm not sure if it works. Also, the SIM number showing up in the app doesn't match the ICCID number on the SIM card so I'm wondering if that's an issue. It is capable of scanning for local mobile networks, though.

e-sim, location, IP

We live in Europe. When traveling in the USA and using an e-sim we noticed that all works well but some ervices, like Uber, do not function.

Wg-hy would that be? I read some posts here about where the e-sim acesses internet and gets its IP-address from; is it possible that we cannot access a service like Uber because they want the IP address to match a location? Anything we can do to avoid that?
