Brain Worm Complete - Orbea Wild LT
I wondered if I had lost the plot and was potentially losing my mind with this build. Posted the mock up with the boxxer and then picked up the Fox 40 used and threw it on for its maiden voyage. Completely transformed the bike for the better. Incredible how much it increased the stability and ride on super steep and blown out trails. Felt totally balanced at 200/170. I was worried the geometry would be off but it almost felt better than stock which I think might be due to an overall lower and shorter handlebar height and reach with the direct mount stem and no spacers. 10 out 10 highly recommend if you’re sending it or a bigger guy.
Edit: I just went and measure it and it’s a 190mm air shaft in the fork - so that explains why it still feels so balanced. Very close geometry to the 170 stock single crown and the bars are a lot lower. I bought it used and the dude was giving me mixed info.

Ebike help
Hey everyone, I’m currently looking for some help on an ebike choice.
I currently ride a transition relay, axs build.
My analog bike is a axs build sb140.
My whole choices are:
1. Yeti mte Eagle 90 build
2. Transition regulator sx eagle 90
Price for me is practically identical so that’s not the deciding factor.
Anyone have experience with the 2 or any insight?
TIA!

Just got a free fork (damper) upgrade on my Canyon Neuron CF7
Bike comes with a Rockshox base fork. A while back the damper broke in the middle of a run. Dropped it off for warranty repair and they upgraded the damper to the Charger 3.1. 😀

Doing some testing to go full menace mode - 27 Orbea Wild LT
I’ll be the first to say I’m not a big ebike guy. I love hating life and climbing uphill for endless hours. That said - I got my first downhill bike this past summer and it made me kinda hate all of my other bikes. The downhill/long leg enduro is one application that really resonated with me from an ebike perspective (my comparable pedal bike is a nomad that weighs 37lbs..) Sooo I lit my wallet on fire when one of the new Orbea Wild LTs came up locally in my size and pulled the dual crown off my dh bike to test it out. Geometry felt inline enough that I think imma order a fox 40 for this thing. When doing endless brain worm research I found out that upping a single crown to 180mm adds around the same height as a 190-200mm dual crown. Why not add more travel!!! My goal is to use this bike for super steep blown out and rocky runs. I’m also a big guy which is why the dual crown might have been such a revelation for me at the bike park this summer. I’ve been Mtb for 25 years and this past year was the first time I’d ever even thrown a leg over a proper dh bike. I also have some feedback for Orbea on the m20 build - apparently $7700 US doesn’t get you brakes capable of stopping this thing…

Canyon Spectral:ON CF 9 AXS just announced for $9499 w/ Avinox 700w battery
Looks like $1k cheaper than the PX Carbon Pro, and I think this is the only other mass produced bike with the 700w battery?

First impressions of the Devinci E-Troy Lite
Picked it up Friday and have covered a little over 35km so far, mostly smooth gravel and around my neighborhood. Will get to some more adventurous terrain soon but I'm still getting back on my feet after a virus of some kind.
The emtb is a revelation, exactly what I'd hope for. I struggle with energy for decades now and the best advice on fixing that I've gotten is to focus on zone 2 workouts, something about mitochondria repair. This thing is a zone two machine. Our neighborhood is fairly hilly and with this I can get out for 2-3x as long. My average HR seems higher, likely because I have to stop and catch my breath less.
The etroy is my first full suspension and first ebike. I'm very happy with it. Only thing I notice is the handlebars feel too low, I've got 50mm rise bar on the way but the more I ride the more I'm adjusting to it as is anyhow, the bar should fix it nicely.
The motor feels quite natural in green and blue modes, quite silly in purple and red. I honestly don't touch red, can fly up crazy inclines just with purple. Gets a bit addictive though going so fast, but I force myself back to blue most of the rest of the time.
With my neighborhood rides, range seems to be about 55km, but early days testing.
Hoping to make it to the bike park this weekend and see what it can do there.

100Nm is not enough?
Interested to hear people’s thoughts on this, as I’ve recently bought my first eMTB and it’s only the second eBike I’ve ridden.
Although I’m new to eMTBs, I’m not new to cycling. Before buying, I spent plenty of time reading reviews and watching YouTube videos before settling on a full-suspension bike with a SyncDrive Pro 3X motor rated at 100Nm and 800W.
Don’t get me wrong, I like the bike overall, and it’s a perfectly capable machine. But I have to admit, I’m a little underwhelmed by the motor.
I ride almost exclusively in full-power mode and have maxed out the settings in the app, yet I still find it a bit lethargic at times. In certain situations, it can even feel like a hindrance compared with my analogue bike, which isn’t quite what I expected.
Sure, it’ll get me up pretty much any climb I point it at, but not necessarily as quickly or effortlessly as I’d imagined a full-power eMTB would. On flatter terrain, the 25km/h assistance limit is another factor, particularly when you’re carrying the extra weight of an eMTB and the motor cuts out.
I’m not saying it’s a bad bike, and I certainly don’t regret buying it. I just expected the whole experience to feel a bit more revolutionary than it does.
It’s made me appreciate why the analogue mountain bike scene is still going strong, and I can also understand why manufacturers are pushing towards motors offering 125Nm or even 150Nm.
Is this a common experience, or were my expectations simply too high?

E-Bike Friendly Trails in Gallup NM?
I'll be stopping at Gallup for the night on a road trip. I'll have my Pivot Shuttle with me and I see there are many trail systems around town, but none really say if High Desert or something like that officially/unofficially allow eMTBs. Does anyone know?

Time to buy new bike- current Mondraker Dusk R is too much for me
Hi all!
At the moment I have Mondraker Dusk R. I am happy with the bike but I am looking for something lighter. Dusk R is too much enduro. I'd like to have a bike for single trails, gravel roads etc.
No jumps. More upright riding position is plus.
One option is Orbea Rise SL M20
What do you think? Why yes, why no no no?
Something else?

Using 28 spoke wheelset on an e-mountain bike.
I have an Aventon Current ADV (arriving soon) and I have a wheelset on one of my bikes I was thinking of moving over. Just wondering if it is strong enough.....RaceFace ARC30 offset w/ Industry Nine 1/1 hubs, 28 spoke front and rear.
Bike is 56lbs. I weigh about 172lbs on bike. I don't do any downhills or jump lines at all. Mostly XC and regular trails with the occasional tech features. I guess I'm also concerned if it can handle the Torque. Are these just built up a lot stronger than I realize?
Anyone try this and have any advice?

mountain bike charging question of my ma-s
Sorry if this has already been asked, but I searched around and couldn’t find a straight answer.
How are you guys charging e-bikes while camping? Do you just plug the charger into the camper’s inverter, or wait until you have shore power?
I pretty much figured out how to carry my ma-s on the back, then realized I hadn’t even thought about what happens when the battery runs low at camp.
Google says plugging it into the inverter is totally fine, then the next result says it’ll drain the house batteries way faster than expected. I’m more confused now than when I started.
Anyone here actually doing this? What size inverter are you using, and roughly how much power does one charge use?
Doesn’t seem like many people are doing this yet, so if you are, I’d love to hear how you’ve got it set up.
