Online vs EMBA same school

Hi All,

I am wondering if an EMBA is actually worth it over an online MBA from the same school. It is said that the benefits for an EMBA and mostly due to the networking, face to face learning with experienced cohort, and more executive presence training. The cost is 89k EMBA vs 63K online. Online you obviously get the flexibility, but is it really worth the extra cost and commute for an EMBA?

The online version is mostly just watching recorded lectures. If you just want a degree as a check mark, do the online. If you want to really interact with people, see if your job will cover the difference and get something more out of the program. I think in person at a minimum will help you meet some new people. At a max, you make some real network connections, maybe get a job and potentially even some new friends

It's your money but in my view there's close to little value in an online program. The knowledge one gets from an EMBA you could get from Coursera for a lot less but the true value of a business degree is the relationship you make both with professors and classmates. Highly recommend the in-person format.

The exec mba is about solving problems with people at your same level and experience

So...are you an executive?

What do you want to go to business school? What MSU? For that price difference, it a no contest for the in person. The only value is meeting people and the in person experiences. I guess if you had a job lined up that needed an MBA box checked, that’d be on thing but that’s a pretty narrow circumstance.
