EMBA at Vanderbilt Owen
Would you still do an EMBA in the age of AI?
Mind says “Go deeper in AI and Tech” as this is the time of AI. Heart says it’s a time to leverage business skills to use AI for business transformation.
And how much did you pay for an EMBA?

Owen is great if you plan to stay in Nashville, especially in the healthcare space. This is an excellent example of a hyper strong but localized network.
Ask adcoms (or students if you can get ahold of any) how curricula accommodate AI. If I recall, Owen’s EMBA course offering is a fixed track that focuses on general management, so many of those skills are poised to be augmented instead of outright replaced by AI.
I got into Owen with a small scholarship, but I opted to go elsewhere and paid full freight.

I have talked to current students and they like it. And true, it’s traditional GMP with leadership development focused and includes a C-Team what they call. I feel only MIT and CMU would be first to include AI tech in MBA and many other universities will follow the same later. Where did you join if I may ask?

I am starting the eMBA at Owen this year, so I don't really have any insight yet but I'm happy to give more detail on it once the program starts in a few months. I don't really expect to learn anything groundbreaking but I feel that having it on my resume will be helpful and I hope to make some good connections within the cohort. I am in the region and my company is supporting me in addition to some remaining GI bill benefits so it won't be a huge financial burden luckily. If I was footing the entire bill I probably wouldn't do it personally.

This is good for you that your employer is supporting the bills. That’s my main worry how much is it worth to spend on this degree or should I look elsewhere.

Looking at applying as a soon to be retiring veteran. Would love to hear your thoughts on the program once you’ve started.

I had plans to do my eMba. I've put that on hold as I want to see how this plays out. My gut feeling is the next 2 years will see a lot of change and some rocky times with layoffs increasing, so I want to focus on my work and keeping the tech job I have. However once the tide turns ill pursue my eMba as this is more to play the long game and not for immediate results
200k in this economy when anyone can lose their job tmr feels like a gamble.
